2 1st for Nick Young and Lou Williams ain't happenin', I would have a little interest in Young but nothing more than a 2nd or equal value.

basically a 2nd rounder

So let me get this straight:

We'd give up King Henry & a first rounder for Lou Williams & Nick Young?

How?

We don't have the cap space to take those contracts!

Even assuming we could take them why would we want them both?

And why are we giving him a skilled big man with range for dudes over 30?

Trade is flawed on so many levels!

1) Ellenson could be complete garbage. If he was so special, he'd be playing right now.

2) Young and Sweet Lou are better than any of your guards and are flexible to play 1, 2, and 3. You get better without giving up any production the next several years.

3) How are you guys so over the cap with such a mediocre roster.

4) No offense. Just real talk.

Can't argue with that logic. We'll do the Lakers a favor and hang on to him so you guys don't have to give up a talented guard for an awful big man.

Lakers could get multiple 2nd rounders just by taking on bum contracts... see Jose Calderon. Why would the Lakers trade a guy who would take you into the second round of the playoffs for ONE 2nd rd pick? Cray cray talk. Stop drinking that tap water.

Lol, why don't you just keep them if they are so good. Meeks also looked awesome on a crappy Lakers roster when having freedom to hoist away with a losing record. Not falling for that crap again but good luck trying to get a 1st.

Dont want to keep them because they keep us from getting a top 3 pick. I explained this on one of the first posts here. Its a classic, 2 steps back, 8 steps forward move.

Keep LW and NY, have a decent record, lose pick.

vs.

Trade LW and NY, bottom out, keep top 3 pick.

That pick is probably gone anyways which really sucks cause that would have been a huge piece for your rebuild. Better to just get it over with and out of the way now. You should be able to get a late 1st possibly from a contender or something though as they have been pretty good vets this year but we are the wrong team to be asking for young players and 1st rounders from right now.

Thats the problem. Trading to actual contender nets a late 20s pick. Trading to a fringe team nets a early 20's possibly late teens pick.

Also A) keeping '17 top 3 pick and losing '18 and keeping '19 is better than

B) Losing '17, keeping '18 and losing '19.

I'd push hard for the A scenario.

1 & 2 - if Ellenson could be complete garbage why would the Lakers give us TWO guards that are better than any of ours LMAO!

Reggie Jackson fully fit is better than both and KCP is better than RJ! Take off your homer goggles

3 - How are we so far over the cap? Basic maths dude! Max contract for Drummond in addition to team friendly deals for Jon Boy, Harris, Mook, RJ, Ish, Bobo...

It's not like we're paying $12 mil to dudes over 30 or dropping $16 mil on the likes of Deng or Mozgov over here - our guys are much younger than that

4 - Right back at ya.

I agree but getting a top 3 pick is damn near harder then getting HCA in the playoffs. Especially once teams start tanking all around you. But if it's a 1st your seeking its probably going to be late 20s. No chance SVG does it given the age, standings and cap situation of our team right now.

You cut me deep mentioning the Deng/Mozgov contracts. People dont go that low in civil society. Laker fans have been harming themselves like 16 year old suburban emos since those signings were announced.

Methinks those Laker fans don't understand the value of professionals on the roster

Deng, Mozgov & Lou aren't there to keep you "competitive" - they're there to show, tell, prove etc

1.) Cheap shots about the Tragedy in Flint is not funny.
2.) If your going to make such a bold statment as "Take you into the 2nd round of playoffs" you need to explain exactly how that is going to happen

3.) To be clear your stepping back from the

n an NBA draft 1st round picks out of the lottery dont have that much value or success rate. Not saying that it has no value or no success rate. Just saying it is a low percentage crapshoot.

or do i need to repost all the good players that clearly are drafted subsequent to the lottery in those same years you provided? Its real shortsided to look a draft position and say , there's nothing good going to be there or of value not knowing literally jack sh* about the picks before hand. This whole notion of "unlikely good value" is more a representation of a teams inability to draft well.

your completely ignoring defense which has more value than any inefficient chucking that both Williams and Young would bring. And even on a bad lakers team last year, they didn't stand out other than Youngs typical immature antics.

3) How are you guys so over the cap with such a mediocre roster.

i understand you couldn't possibly know this, but in order to win in this league and make the playoffs, you need actual developed talent and a lot times you have to pay for that talent as it normally takes players longer than their rookie contract to develop into stars. See JB, DD, etc. There's literally countless examples of this all over the NBA.

Its also hilariously ironic your calling any piston mediocre when your acting like Lou williams or Nick young are franchise changing players when they are the very definition of MEdiocre and this is even on a losing team

4) No offense. Just real talk.

you have absolutely no idea how to properly evaluate a team and need and a complete unrealistic bias of your own teams players. Just real talk

Detroits first is up for grabs, but you'll have to actually bring something of value to the table. Not sh* players you try to sell as roses

I agree, let's be nice to him. He's civil, very funny, and having a different opinion is what makes these boards fun. He's right that Ellenson might not amount to anything. However, coach seems really enthused about the kid. Pistons likely hold onto him long enough to determine if SVG's initial impression is correct.

nick young and lou williams worth a 2 1st is pretty funny.

Return to Detroit Pistons
