The Zizic situation created some drama with his former team, Croatia's KK Cibona, which loaned Zizic for financial considerations. The club's executive vice president, Aco Petrovic, resigned over the decision to move the team's best player.

After starring for KK Cibona, Zizic, the 23rd pick in June's draft, will now have more competition for minutes and touches. Darussafaka features a number of guys with NBA experience in James Anderson and Furkan Aldemir, plus former Celtics big men Luke Harangody and Semih Erden. Of course, the talent tradeoff goes both ways: playing in the Euroleague, the second-best league behind the NBA, Zizic will be able to test himself nightly against top competition.

The 19-year-old has already shown himself capable of pummeling lesser players. Through 13 games in the Adriatic League, Zizic dominated with averages of 20.0 points and 9.2 rebounds on ridiculous 69.5-percent shooting -- numbers that compare favorably to those of other NBA talents who have gone through that league. It will be interesting to see how Zizic performs against more competitive opponents the rest of the season, but his new coach seems to appreciate his style of play:
"You have to put the work in.
Nothing is given."

If he proves to be a quality offensive player, he can have a very fine career being only mediocre defensively. And he has the physical tools to be more than mediocre defensively. Let's see how he looks after a few years of NBA coaching and experience.

I can't entirely tell, but he seems like he has some good lateral quickness. If he does he has the tools to do what Olynyk does, and that's be a really good defender without being a shot blocker. I don't know that he has Olynyk's quick hands to get steals, but if he can cut off PnR ball handlers and beat big guys to the spot, he can be above average, which is pretty huge if it combines with good offense and rebounding.

I wouldn't be shocked if we never bring him over.

I would be shocked if we brought Marcus Thornton (2015 no. 2 pick) over. Not Yabs.

I think Brandon Bass is what he profiles as defensively, in a maybe he gets there sort of way.

He may never get there, but B. Bass with better ball skills and more range is a nice rotation guy to have around.

Plus he will be the strongest or one of the most powerful players in NBA with his boxing back round we might finally have an enforcer that puts the fear of God Into the whole NBA. I really pray he has a mean streak and our players stopped getting tossed around like rag dolls.

If we could move Yabs in a package to get back in the mid first this year I'd jump all over it

Having basic lateral quickness is good. But you have it between the ears to be a good defender and I haven't seen the defensive effort and IQ from him. KO is a good defender not just because he is quick, but because he is smart as hell defensively.

Chris Forsberg:
Boston Celtics stash Ante Zizic, the 23rd pick in the 2016 NBA draft, is leaving his Croatian team to play for David Blatt's Euroleague squad in Turkey. Celtics coach Brad Stevens said he texted with Blatt on Tuesday and thinks the coach can help mold the 19-year-old 7-footer. "We've been following [Zizic] really close. He's had a great year up to this point," said Stevens. "He's got a high motor, he's a tough guy. We're excited about him being a part of our future."

Brad really wanted him. So I think he sees something and this man can be good? Time will tell.

Yabs added 2 assists, 2 steals, and 3 blocks in 28 minutes.

Action Jackson with 8 assists and 1 turnover. Nader added 16 points and 9 rebounds in the 98-101 loss to Bayhawks.

Yabu reminds me of some of the runningbacks in the NFL. Heavily built, especially the lower body, but still agile and quick.

But way taller tho, lol. He might've been a great defensive end.

I don't get why people are down on Yabs. May not have the prototypical body type but he's still a freak athlete. The competition in China and style of play is wack but he's shown me enough for me to think he can hit 3's and drive closeouts. On D he has the strength to push 4's and maybe 5's off their spots and the quickness to guard small ball 4's. He also has enough quickness to not get destroyed if switched onto a guard. Should be able to rebound with the large body of his. He may not be an allstar but I can certainly see him succeeding in the NBA.

Gotta love the way Yabs goes all Maurice Lucas/Al Attles and protects Jimmer when some goon tries to take Jimmer's head off. This guy has a chance to be a fan favorite.

By the way, has the game passed Abdel Nader by? Is the Nader Era over? Or is he still recovering from his injury? Last couple of games have been decidedly pedestrian.

He has the same body type as Barkley.

Ainge the Younger is saying that both Yabu and Zizic will likely be in the NBA next season.

You're describing Anthony Mason, but with a 3-pt shot.

Hmm a little before my time but a quick look at his stats and I'd say an improved Mason is not a terrible result at 16. I see people say he's not an NBA caliber player and I disagree with that.
