Finally, a WIN for a hard fought team....

it looked like we were going to lose it but some timely(fortunate) 3s at the end made the difference....

defense seems impossible to clean.... and idk if anything will change.....

but hooray! Hope Lin is ok and not set back too much.

RHJ has got to clean up those lay ups around the rim. But here's the good part: 10 FTAs last night. That's what he has to do. Get inside the defense and attack. That's how you become a contributor on both ends.

Great team win and much needed for morale after the last three. Nice to see we can compete at home against a probable playoff team!

Was a great win and highly entertaining game, sucks to lose Lin again though.

this guy is bricking around the rim.... he needs to lose that and finish strong!

I do appreciate the inside game he's doing. Definitely not confident shooting and doing something to make an impact on the offense.... way to step up, even if its a little...

there's still plenty of more offseasons to work on extending his range...

everything for him should be coming inside the arc.

and at this point, we need about 70% Lopez on the inside, 30% of Lop3z on the outside.

All these other guys may look prettier or meaner on the highlight reel but Brook remains one of the most efficient high volume post guy in the league. He's a real problem when he's being smart against double teams too.

He was struggling bad in the PNR yesterday but I thought our guys did a poor job helping out behind him. With MKG spotting up, one of our guys needs to be with a foot in the paint during all PNRs, giving Brook the freedom to contest those pull up jumpers. The one time he went up, Kemba went around him and scored with no help from anyone else. The other times he was too far back.

I'm not gonna act like I love Foye now but he made Kemba work to get to his spots. Not to overreact but I think he and Kilpatrick need to hold down the backup PG spot til Lin comes back. Dinwiddie isn't ready for big minutes.

Can't wait til LeVert gets more time. He still needs to get more comfortable but the flashes are there of a really nice piece. He's still getting his feet wet and already making high level plays. That's while only playing in 2 6 minute bursts per game. Hard to get into a rhythm.

Bojan, as a product of Euro ball, understands that going to the bench isn't a demotion. Whoever plays best finishes and when you come in, it's a chance to change the tide of the game. Didn't hang his head with two younger guys starting over him. Just came in and did what he does.

Sucks that we can't keep a full healthy roster but not surprising with our luck.

Dinwiddie offers more offensively than Foye, but Foye, when he wants to, has the veteran savvy and can make big plays. But for some odd reason, sometimes he makes low IQ plays. He didn't in the Hornets game, we had the good Foye.

I'm glad you said that going to the bench isn't a demotion. In can be, but sometimes it is just to balance out the attack and guys can close halves and games who come off the bench. Also, sometimes guys can inject energy or scoring or a certain specialty into the lineup when they come off the bench. It's like a second wave of attack.

What a game... one of the best of the year so far... some thoughts:

1) foye obviously hit a super clutch game winner... but lets not forget the huge back to back threes by kilpatrick and bogs who both balled out in the 4th. same with whitehead who took a charge and had back to back steals that led to buckets. those guys really turned the game for us

2) I liked lopez approach late... alot of catch and going right at the rim with it.. 10 straight points for him at one point. on the flipside, his pick and roll D late killed us. zeller with 2 easy wide open layups. good move by kenny to go with booker for brook late to prevent it although they got a lucky bounce and tip in.

3) i had pondered this before the holidays, but my guess is we will keep seeing a few guys shuffled in and out to get playing time... instead of going with a 12 man rotation guys like foye will get time then not dress, same with scola/bennet/hamilton. looks like the team wants to give all these guys time but would prefer it in bigger chunks then longer rotations.

4) Turnovers and defense still plague us. some ugly sloppy ones by lin/whitehead, kilpatrick. we cant stop anything once teams screen us. going small helps with the RHJ at PF lineup. but still a major issue no matter who is on the floor

5) tough to see lin go down again, hopefully this doesnt linger all year. this was a good opportunity for him. was playing well prior to the injury

6) RHj looked better offensively... seems to be more back to staying in his lane, and not going iso heavy unless its a push in transition. he has alot of value as a smallball4 in short spurts

About 4, they made TOs but they caused them as well. Whitehead's block was nice and they forced the Hornets into them as well and they made many as well. Now defense is a mess, we gave up 40 in the first quarter.

on 6, RHJ has to finish better. He looked good, he can shoot for an MKG type, but it's evident MKG is a lot stronger physically watching them both tonight.

ive never liked the rhj and mkg comparisons...mkg can handle the ball really well, is more physical and is a better finisher with either hand

Bojan was praised by Kenny for his professionalism. That, and the way he came in and played hard made me respect the guy that much more. Sucks that he can't defend well enough but really, he just needs to focus on coming in and giving us scoring

Just like how RHJ seems to be really focused on playing to his strengths, that's what every player needs to be coached up to do. Do what you do best and stick to doing that. Booker cleaned the glass last night. That's what he should be doing. Not trying to be some kind of offensive creator. Whitehead made some errors but he was a pitbull defensively, he has no regard for veteran players he faces. The way he ripped the ball out of (i think it was kaminsky's) hands last night was the type of play I love to see. I just want to see iHead play D, attack the basket, and make the simple, correct basketball play as a PG, nothing fancy.

There's gonna be growing pains but I like Kenny letting guys out of the comfort zone. It's just important to know when to reel them back in. If RHJ put in the off season work, I want him to get the chance to shoot 3s in game situations. Let him prove he can be passable instead of writing him off. It wasn't working - so now his role is simplified and he's thriving. Playing the 4 really opens up his game. Too bad he's not 2 inches taller

Loved the way Whitehead played too. Getting that type of game from a backup at 15-18 minutes a game would be awesome. Too bad he's gonna have to take on a big role again.

On that Bojan point - all of our vets are limited but they all seem to be the right type of vets to have around a young squad. Play hard, stay positive, unselfish. Guys like Scola and Foye could have pipe dreams of being 20+ mpg type guys and make a fuss about all the DNPs. Everyone's ready when called and I've heard no whispers about complaints.

Great post from beginning to end. And reminds me of when Larry Bird said he would be an average player if he were two inches shorter.

Let's not underestimate how much communication means everything. Kenny actually talks to these guys. Hollins wouldn't even tell guys to their face whether or not they were starting or sitting.

After hearing from Kenyon Martin how George Karl would walk into a locker room and not even acknowledge the players, I think that old dinosaur mentality of coaches being poor communicators was more widespread than I thought. Glad we have a younger coach who can communicate and teach older vets and millennial players, who need and want open lines of communication

So glad to finally have Bogs off the bench and him flourishing. That's just great, especially if we wanna trade him.

JHar as token starter is not bad, surely he'll get better. MKG and Batum are pretty good defenders.

Lin played a great game before he went down. Great D on Kemba. Turned it up before his injury. Perhaps he played too much since iHead was injured? 3 games in 4 nights. It's good that we have Dinwiddie now.

Just when Lin and SKil played better together, but SKil still played better after Lin was out. SKil needs to come off the bench as well, just depends on who Kenny trusts as the starter.

RHJ needs to use both feet to jump more. When he goes sideways rather than up, it makes the shot tougher to make. His speed is getting him to the line tho, that's nice.

Brook was hungry this game. He's quicker than Hibbert and bigger than Zeller. He battled hard and had some nice passes.

JHam finally made a three! He looks better, probably getting more sleep.

Foye saved the day! Vet D against Kemba.

Asides from the TOs, iHead played like a vet, impressive. Maybe it's time to have him as token starter as well when Lin comes back?
