Re: Fire Everyone
It's official, we are just a young immature team with no star to pull us through it.

Look at our schedule coming up.. We're in trouble. Big **** trouble. Deep enough into the season to see that this is a lotto team unless something changes. Extremely disappointing. No excuse when this team with no bench won 44 games last year. Has Van Gundy lost the locker room? Something is going on. We aren't just getting beat, we are getting destroyed. Trash. Hope these clowns browse RealGm.

I'm wondering if our guys just don't want to play hard for SVG and not really like him. He's never really had a problem putting our guys on blast publically and maybe we don't hear from the players not liking him as a coach cause he's also the president. I just don't understand what else it is, at some point you would think pride would kick in and you would at least want to get intense and lock down some guys but we just don't give a crap at all.

No pride and the "it's my job, not my life" attitude.
Dre is the personification of that attitude...also our "superstar / franchise / All Star / All NBA" player!
As opposed to Stanimal that wants it so badly his mouth is in front of his skills!
Or KCP who generally is quiet but gives 100% on both ends every night playing insane minutes
We need to get a stud that is driven! If that's Cousins then you deal with the other stuff. If it's not him then you gotta find a dude that is SO passionate he sometimes goes too far
Draymond?

My sincerest empathy for you. Unfortunately, Stan went "all in" with his pick n' roll duo. I don't foresee any changes in the near future.
My passion for the Pistons has been steadily dwindling since Drummond was drafted by Dumars. And now there's Reggie. I thought I couldn't dislike a notable Pistons' player more than Andre. It's a close call.

i think its moreso our roster is filled with players who over the history of their careers even in college have had questionable motors. Particularily our PG and Center who set the tone. IF "the coach" is what the excuse is,then even if we did change coaches, our players would find some other bs excuse to not show up.
"blowing it up" is a bit of a overreaction, but at some point it won't and it seems more likely we'll get to that point than not.

Re: Fire Everyone
Not on the fire everybody train but I agree with the general sentiment in this thread.
Drummond is who he is. Basketball is just a way for him to get money/fame & make friends, and there's nothing immoral about that. But if you're expecting him to aspire to be a truly great player you are mistaken.
We're in major need of a trade.

Re: Fire Everyone
The drama we've got now and in the future:
Even IF KCP all of a sudden explodes over the ROS and is universally regarded as a superstar he's not the vocal type to light a fire within Dre or change the way RJ plays the game.
Even IF Stanimal was also suddenly on Iguodala's level and playing 30 minutes a night him & KCP together are not gonna light a fire within Dre or change the way RJ plays the game.
It seems SVG underestimated his ability to mold personalities...or misunderstood Dre's personality - no one will light a fire within him IMO

Neither of these things will happen. These guys will be role players for their careers- and that's a best case scenario for Johnson.

Re: Fire Everyone
Stan is so afraid of getting strong personalities on the team because of how his tenure ended in Orlando and Miami so he wants players he can get along with. Unfortunately this is a player's league and it's a superstar league and superstars have ego's and want certain control of things.
We liked to laugh at all the swindling Van Bowers did with trades, but looking at the team they put together, it looks like all the players they acquired are fatally flawed and were traded for reasons (ie cap space) so that their former team could go in a different direction.

Re: Fire Everyone
How about some patience? We had 0 talent and no assets when SVG started here. The rebuild went well thus far, that said there is no excuse if this team doesn't make the playoffs. THEN changes have to be made, not now - unless a no brainer deal like the Harris trade comes along.
I'd rather try to bring in a veteran like Joel, Tolliver. This team really lacks leadership, its not really a matter of talent, they got to the playoffs with less talent last year, the mentality is lacking in my opinion.

Re: Fire Everyone
Not a lot of time for patience.
If we are this **** as a team, with no change or improvement on the horizon, KCP might as well take his talents elsewhere after this season. Either trade the non contributors, or expect to lose your best player.
SVG can play the pity card all he wants, I just hope he doesn't expect the change to come from the players. He needs to grab the reigns, and either DEMAND the improvement, or trade some pieces. Patience has run out, and there is more than just a playoff appearance at stake.

Put that roster out there that started the season! Even the small ball was exciting with Leur, Morris, Harris, KCP, and Smith!

Eh, I think stan is going to fix this. Not everyone is going to be happy about how he does it though. He's given guys a long leash and just hoped they would grow into the responsibility. Well, it hasn't happened. He used to give guys an early hook if they weren't giving effort and I expect that to return in short order.

Re: Fire Everyone
Last year's team felt like everyone had a gigantic chip on their shoulder for various reasons. This year's team looks like the "close" loss to the Cavs in the playoffs made them feel like they arrived this offseason. Realistically there's not that big of a difference between the 5th seed in the East and where we currently are but the vibe of the team feels like the work has been accomplished already, time to enjoy the rewards.

There's still time to pull this one out of the fire, they just need to get going, because its definitely in the fire.
