Seems to me that Tyreke Evans will be a compelling target for Grunfeld - partly because he can play 3 positions - and he's a very talented player when healthy. Of course, EG would send a 1st rounder to NO to get him (and dump Nicholson's contract). But Evans will be a UFA in the offseason. If we did trade for him, would we get his Bird rights?

Yep. We'd get his Bird rights,
President Donald Trump referred to African countries, Haiti and El Salvador as "shithole" nations during a meeting Thursday and asked why the U.S. can't have more immigrants from Norway.

That would be a bad trade, although admittedly dumping Nicholson's awful contract does make it more palatable. Evans is indeed very talented, but he's been up and down his entire career; it's really hard to imagine him being a core player. Moreover, I think just about any trade of our R1 pick this year would be a mistake.

Yes, I agree. He has played reasonably well in the 127 minutes he's had. For one thing, he's played better than Thornton.
Now... 127 minutes is a small sample. But, at least there's some possibility that he could develop. OTOH, Thornton is who he is.
One thing is that if McClellan is ever going to be a good player, he'll have to work on his shot. He releases the ball from below his chin. I don't see how he'll make that work in this league.
If MKG can hit a jumper in this league with his form.. it should give hope to every athlete alive.

IS SOMEONE GONNA MAKE A NETS THREAD??
Anyway, I say bite the bullet re: Beal injury and play Oubre at starting SG.
Yeah, yeah, it severely stuffs our bench rotation but who cares? Its the Nets. In our building. Oubre has played well, lets see what he can do as a starter with Wall for 38+ minutes (fouling out not included).
Its a great opportunity for us to do some further evaluation while also rewarding his play of late. I know the smart thing to do is not to overextend the starters, but if we get up by 25 at the half it doesnt matter.
I'd also like to see more Sato, and hell, what choice do we have there. Burke/Sato/McLellan can hold down the bench mob.
Final thought: if Mahinmi is activated, give him some minutes too.

Well, in fairness, we took Mike Pence off their hands. Taking back Mahinmi is the least they can do.
