You arent...it's just craziness. Honestly, i'd rather have MCW than Smart, and he could be had for a 2nd.
Marcus Smart is playing 30 minutes per game on a playoff team. Brad Stevens is not crazy.
He is 22 years old and he is a very VERY good defender. If you go to the Celtics board with that offer they probably are gonna say "no, thank you" because they value him a lot.
A guy who is a career 36% shooter is not worth a good C and a potential lotto pick. I'll openly admit that i dont watch the Celtics nor the Bucks last year but:
Smart this season
29.7 mpg - 10.9 PER
9.7/4.0/4.3
1.24 Steals
0.38 Blocks
36.3% from the field
MCW last season
30.5 mpg - 14.0 PER
11.5/5.1/5.2
1.74 Steals
0.76 Blocks
45.2% from the field
After putting up those numbers Williams was traded for Tony Snell. I would really like someone to explain how Smart has SO MUCH more value.
I watch Celtics games and my friend is a die hard celtics fan so I have a good perspective on Smart IMO...
He is not a box score guy.
He is a Tony Allen type player... Amazing defender but poor shooter. But has the body and atheleticism to be a menace in the defensive end.
Celtic fans love him.
He is valuable because he can guard PGs, SGs and SFs at an elite level.
