To the people saying Jeff should grow a set and bench Melo keep in mind if that happens, Melo's team will reach out to Dolan the same night. Dolan will reach out to Phil and Phil will immediately reach out to Horns and the benching will be over with. In the case Jeff sticks to his guns, he'll be out of a job within that week.
It's a business and Melo runs this franchise.

Besides your petty spite, why would you want to get rid of a young cost controlled player? Even if you don't think he will be franchise player, he can still be a great piece of a core. He's a 7'3" shot blocking, three point shooter. Those are pretty rare. Some say even as rare as a unicorn.

When did those Phil Jackson comments about Melo go public? Right before the west coast trip right? When things started turning bad?

That fool messed up what was working for no reason. He thought this team would go another level. Instead, they came crashing down because their best scorer is self conscious every time he takes a shot. And it's spiraled into this.

Good luck getting W's moving forward until you establish a pecking order and everyone falls in line. Don't care what the order is. Just get everyone on the same page

Of course its a concern but you don't trade a 21 year old stud just because something may happen. If we had Embiid I wouldn't trade him either because his foot broke for 2 years. He is a stud. You will never get anything near equal value.

True...it would have to be for something along the lines of like a Dame Lillard, Giannis, or something like that...which is unlikely, but you never know.

Kind of a moot point anyway since Phil probably won't even think about it since KP is his greatest accomplishment here.

I wouldn't trade him for Lillard. But yeah you have to look at it from the perspective of realistic trades. LIke if NO offered Brow, I'd drive KP to the airport. But they would never offer that.

So all the realistic offers fall way short of KP's value so you keep him.

Still don't know why he said that about Melo and commented on Bron.

Boggles my mind.

Would've been nice to see him defend Melo from George Karl as well but whatever.

Brow is just another level. He's a top 5 player no matter what their record says. I can only imagine what his prime will look like.

Maybe we should start tanking from now till the point they're ready to trade him. Get some assets in line to put him and KP together.

And I got absolutely slayed when I spoke my harsh opinion on Carmelo. He is not a winner, plain and simple, he doesn't have it in him. Unless he has winners on the team, but we do not.

You find anyway for Carmelo to waive his no trade and just take expiring contracts and a mid first round pick and rebuild. Carmelo reminds me of STAT in his last few years here where as I couldn't wait until he was gone. I hope the same happens pretty darn soon.

You're blaming him for what?

He led us to the playoffs 3 straight years.

The 4th year, the guards turned into absolute garbage and your second best player missed 32 games and you missed the playoffs by one game. And the one immediate asset you had to fix the issues, you used on one of the bigger busts in NBA history. Melo had one of his best years that year. But that's his fault, right?

Next year we tanked.

Then last year, we're 9 pts worse with him off the floor.

This is the first year he's been this inconsistent and folks are ignoring all the crap other guys give us and expect him to lift this team to W's. I'll be the first to say he can't do that anymore by himself every night. And folks are acting like this is some great roster.

I said that **** before the season started. If this is what PJax thinks going all in to give Melo a shot at a title is, then just trade him. Clearly, we can not build a contender around him. And clearly, he can't lift us to that level anymore either.

He didn't "lead" us to the playoffs 3 straight years. Amare and company "led" us before he even got here, and vets like Kidd/KMart/Tyson/Sheed "led" us to an Atlantic Title and and actual 2nd round appearance 2 years after. Carmelo score 28ppg but shot 44% that year and 37% from 3. He hasn't led this team since coming here. He's had some fantastic games, but he's lead to more losing and player/coach turnover than wins.

No doubt. The point I'm making is this petty Civil War between Melo Fans and KP fans is a farce. The only thing Knicks fans can hope out of moving Melo is cap relief. Truth is Melo is Immovable. Noah is another immovable contract.

This Knicks team reminded me of the day, the NY Rangers hired Glen Sather of Edmonton Oilers fame as their GM. Glen went out and signed Eric Lindros, Pavel Bure, Radek Dvorak, Mikael Samuelsson, Matthew Barnaby, Bobby Holik, Darius Kasparaitis...and they were a pile of dog poop.

The Rangers had to scuttle that team and slowly build. Knicks seem to hit the gas pedal after they have one good draft.

It really was that game. I think reality set in that the team wasn't a contender. A mid-tier seed at best with Cle, Tor, and Bos being the clear top seeds. Knicks could have grabbed the 4 slot but I guess that wasn't enough? Then internal conflicts started. It's clear there's a division on the team.

It's also something that's been in the back of their minds the entire time. The defense has been statistically horrific the entire season (now ranked 25th). The offense has been average (now ranked 16th). Even when it was going well, it did not look coherent at all. We've been a terrible team pretty much since the start of the season, but we've had one of the easier schedules in the league and we eeked out some close games against some bad teams. That and the East is so bad that normally a record like we had wouldn't be a 3rd-5th seed; it'd be more like the 7th-8th seed.

Things are evening out now and our record is going to start to reflect our actual level of play (bad). We have an old veteran team plus KP and a bunch of rookies...there was never any genuine upside potential to suggest we were going to improve. The false sense of confidence was shattered. It could have been the Celtics game...I thought it was the Hawks game. I knew right then that it was time to look forward to the draft.

That's some great historical fiction.

Amare was hurt a lot of games down the stretch of his one good year here and Melo carried the Los. The next year everyone's messiah got hurt and Melo turned into an absolute beast and carried us in. He built upon that and had another all NBA season in 12-13.

Anyway I'm done fighting with folks who are looking for a scapegoat. Enjoy man.

I think Noah is as close to immovable as you get. You are right. Melo is movable once he gives the ok.

Agree 100% on the Melo fans vs KP fans crap. Who cares. We all should want what is best for the Knicks. Not bicker among ourselves.

To summarize:
The 3 playoff years was Melo playing 1 on 5, and carrying us.
The last 3 years is everyone else's fault. Melo has tried but can only carry so much.

Amirite?
