99 season was the year I became a knick fan. I was an 11 year old who was a Jordan fan before that. That 99 team is NYC. Tough, Rugged, crazy, emotional, and clutch.

Man after that season we just went down hill. I stuck with them though. Spurs fans are lucky.

man i swear... I also became a knicks fan in 99 and I also was a jordan fan before. but I was 12 years old :DD

Melo stumped for Woodson because he didn't like D'Antoni's offense. He like Woodson because he let him ISO and switch, as pointed out.

By midway through Potato Head's 1st (ok, was it 2nd?) he had clearly LOST the team. Gee, I wonder why.

He lost the team because they went away from what worked and they were losing.

And still proves my point that Melo did not in any way shape or form push Woodson out the door

Knicks keep turning the roster over, turning the coaches over, and yet still play offense a certain way and tend to have the same issues on defense? Yet who is the constant? I've generally supported Melo but it's time to see what the issue is.

Players can be good but ultimately not that conducive to good teams. Part of it is the Knicks, always firing coaches and trying another. But the teams sure do seem to quit or tune coaches out here pretty damn quick. I'm not saying Melo led the revolt on Woodson. He lost the team; it was clear as day. But it sure seems to be a trend that coaches get tuned out pretty quick. Some of them deserve it, others maybe not.

Name a coach that didn't deserve it.
The only one I can think of is Woody.

D'Antoni deserved it and before he got linked up with Harden people wondered why the fuq he would ever be considered for another head coaching job.

Rambis is a poor coach. Period.
Fisher was inexperienced and it showed.

Every coach that comes here ain't sh*t this has been since JVG.

MDA needs an elite guard to run his system that can facilitate and score.

MDA in NY was turning melo into a stretch 4. Two things happened in NY. Aside from the first season with Felton and Lin, the team didn't have a true pg. secondly the leader of the team was undermining the system.

Im not talking about now. Melo got here at age 26 and he did not do anything. He was a good scorer but man that didnt amount to anything. I was a Melo fan but now im seeing what it is. He is a Robin who needs a batman.

i have no idea why you ever thought melo on his own was gonna do anything. and this robin/batman concept sh*t is overrated. lebron needed wade. wade took all the shots late the first couple years. hell, kyrie takes them now. so who was batman ? don't matter anyway right now. at this age, melo needs the whole damn justice league.

Yup. They needed Amar'e and probably Billups even more not to die in a basketball sense. Probably still was a bad mix imo but we'll never know. Both broke down even sooner than expected.

In what alternate universe is Melo more talented than Harden?

More physically gifted I should say.

Nahhhhh Lebron without Wade and Bosh teams still won 50-60 games. Lebron not being clutch was answered this passed finals as he single handedly brought them back. We get on Lebron for not making clutch shots meanwhile hes hovering on D like a mad man.

Competitive wise you cant even compare. And yes I thought Melo would be better than what he is. We are in the east for crying out loud. I had him up there and that was my mistake I guess.

most of the forum last year was trying to tell this one guy that klay was better than harden. and he could be better than melo when it's all said and done. who knows. can't say it till his career winds down. you're being a prisoner of the moment.

harden will be 32 one day too. melo used to do the same thing in the west.

Very true.
Here we are. Time to turn the page unless the team drastically improves...no?

Stop excluding him.
He's in the circle too.

He is been our best player this year to be honest, keeps us competitive nearly every game at least, when he is missing we get blown out at home to Magic, a bad defensive team without their best defensive player is horrible

There have been games where KP has been straight sh*t.

Don't play that garbage with me. This whole team is trash.

I think melo has been the second coming of al Harrington the two last years.

BUT his prime years were wasted by not teaming him with a 1a type star that was a guard.

But I agree, I saw it in preseason with the ball hogging. It's time for melo to either take a significantly reduced role on the team. Perhaps come off the bench. Or time to trade him. I just don't think melo's ego can handle the blow of coming off the bench. It reminds me of Ewing during his last couple of years in ny.

Nah. We've seen much worse. Knicks haven't had their complete complement of picks since... 1999? 2000? Can't remember if the team moved them in the 90s.

So all this sucks, right? Imagine if they had made a move like RoLo and the 2018 pick for Jeff **** Teague. There's still an escape hatch.

More like he was struggling in a role that didn't fit his strengths and was asked to take a back seat to a guy who was in the D-League just a few months ago. Yeah nah pass and miss me with this bs that D'Antoni is all of a sudden a good coach who got underminded because he's riding Harden like Secretariat. He's average when he has the right personnel for him. He ain't no franchise changer nor should we have picked him over Melo. I'm glad we got rid of that bum and still am.

I need to see the whole sequence all the way through. Because I bet Jeff was walking down to the bench and calling in a sub

But that won't fit the agenda
