Yes I can't blame Melo for THAT possession. He still deserves blame for slowing the pace and holding the ball too long, and challenging his defenders by taking terrible shots. That possession there was nothing there so it was either a Melo iso or a Jennings iso.

Not just a pg but a really great-passing guard

The cycle of improperly surrounding Melo with talent continues.

IDK but I could've (and did) told y'all Rose wasn't it. Another factoid I just looked up? The Knicks are 27th in passing out of drives and BJ and Rose are the culprits behind that. With Horny's offense being predicated off drives and isos vs mismatches the ball won't move unless our PGs start passing better (BJ passes out of the PNR but not really when he's determined to score).

Its a stat I usually keep up with. Yearly his eFG% on catch and shoots since 2014 have been:
58%
54%
52% (because the Triangle had him taking midrange catch and shoot Js more often)
59%
Its crazy how every has seen how he gets down in the Olympics and up to this point in his career he's never been able to just be that guy that works off ball half the time and busts you down in iso and the post when the offense breaks down.

It might sound crazy but Phil should have really taken the gamble on giving Conley the big max. He would have been perfect for Melo. I knew Rose wasn't a great passer but I didn't think he was this bad.

Memphis max is larger than a road team's max. He was never coming here. Knicks at this point needs to lose, but when Porzingis is healthy the team won't be bad enough to submerge all the way to the bottom.

If KP is shutdown temporarily (like now), we can freefall easily. The bottom-dwellers need to win some for us to catch up, as disgusting as it may sound.

I just looked it up. The Knicks have a better record than 13 teams right now. I'm about to vomit.

We'll never be as bad as the bottom feeders. Truth is the value of picks outside of the top 5 but still in the lotto are the same. Unless tanking makes us a bottom 5 team there's no point and there's no way we end up bottom 5.
Devin Booker was the 13th pick, Zach Lavine & TJ Warren the 13th & 14th, Giannis & Schroeder the 15th & 17th, the Morris'/Kawhi/Vucci were all the 13th-16th picks, etc. Tanking to end up with the 8th pick instead of the 14th pick doesn't give you a better chance to get a better player in most situations unless the draft's elite players are 8 deep (they aren't).

I don't understand this logic. If the Knicks make a chart of three players that they'd like to draft and they like one candidate a lot in particular, they should be in the best position to acquire that player by picking earlier in the draft.
Remember when the Knicks' first choice was Steph Curry, and once he was drafted by GS they ended up selecting Jordan Hill. Case in point stars can come from any part of the draft, but I want the Knicks to be in the best position to draft the player they like the most.

We're only 5.5 games out of the 5th spot of the draft, and our schedule is brutal in January. We can easily plummet. By the end of the month, we might be looking at a 20 - 30 record, or worse(better depending on your allegiance).

But we had the 9th pick that year and that's my point. We don't know what their draft board looks like but we do know in the grand scheme we aren't going to be worse than the bottom 7. We just aren't that bad. We also know the 6-15th picks have about the same chance of striking gold. Unless you shoot for a bottom 3 record tanking still isn't worth it and we have enough wins already to win 5 or so games the rest of the way and not be bottom 3.

By SRS, there are 7 teams worse than us, and one of them(Orlando) just kicked our ass. If Melo does eventually ask for a trade, we could be a bottom 5 team.

He's a better 3 point shooter, distributor and defender than Rose. He'd be a major upgrade.
