10-Day Contracts now available...

Post#1 » by Kilo » Thu Jan 5, 2017 7:04 pm

Should we cut Beno and take a look-see flyer on a D-League talent? Beno was brought in when we needed a veteran back-up for Ish with Reggie out - doesn't really serve much of a purpose now unless he's some great lockerroom veteran or something. Ray McCallum is probably poached soon via 10-day as he's proving to be too good for the D-League. Or maybe get a defensive pest pg like Briante Weber?

He played really well for us when Reggie was hurt. He should probably be playing over Ish right now with the horrible efficiency numbers Ish is putting up.
I don't see a reason to get rid of him.

Nobody we signed would even get a chance to play anyway.

I wouldn't waive Beno just to waive him. I think the Pistons honestly neeed him unless..
We can do a 2-1 deal with Beno and Reggie Bullock or Beno and ???? for another player. I don't mind the idea of the open roster spot.

If we do create a roster spot, i think we should look at someone who could come in right away and help. Even Hollis Thompson, i think, could help. He shoots 3s pretty well, but not that much of a shooter overall. Just seems like a good hustle guy who could help this team out.

Do we technically have to sign a new contract if we're still paying his old one?

Beno was actually running the time quite well when Reggie was hurt. Better than Ish was on some occasions, his in the lane jumper was automatic and could nail the 3 when expected.

Where the 2017 team/roster has lost its way is with these type of role payers. Last season we has role player who came to work every day. Even though you could argue they had less talent and were old. They were smart and tough.

Guys like AT, Joel, Blake - went by the mans mans rule of.... never explain, never complain.

if reggie or ish go down for any period of time then we'd be back at square one without beno.

as bill belichick said when questioned about cutting a player to bring back jacoby brissett off IR (despite having tom brady and jimmy garoppolo)... you don't need insurance until you need insurance.

SVG doesn't give minutes to people with guaranteed contracts he signed and 1st round picks he drafted, so I doubt he would do with dleaguers
