Because insurance is currently covering a large portion of this years salary (instead of Miami), and once he is forced to medically retire then that really lets them off the hook.

So sure, his current statline sits at zero's across the board, but Miami isnt paying for his contract.

Insurance falls short of covering Bosh's full contract by $32,818,170 over the next 3 years.

So worst case scenario Miami is forced to pay close to $33M over the next 3 years instead of the full $76M. Now i could be wrong, but IF bosh cant pass his medical tests and is forced to medically retire, Miami doesnt have to pay anything for the final 2 years (insurance does), so in total, they ended up paying Bosh around $11M for his total contract, instead of the $76M they originally signed him for.
