Hawks trade Korver to Cleveland
No word yet on what's heading back. Clearing the way for a Ross trade perhaps?

Sounds like Mo Williams and a heavily protected first rounder headed to the Hawks.

Just curious - don't you guys think you couldve gotten at least a guranteed late first or something by trading him to another team? This just seems like one of those deals that you would do with another GM as a favor IMO.

Hawks gonna be the Hawks still.

Of course it's to the Cavs out of ALL the teams. Why does every GM seem to want the Cavs to succeed.

This isn't clearing the way for Ross lol. It's clearing the way for Prince and Bembry to get more minutes.

I would have said the same thing the previous seasons when ATL was at his best with Korver on the floor more than any other player, but this season, ATL is at an On/Off court NET of -11pts/100poss. with Korver
Maybe it's because of the new system, or it would be sad but he may be finished, and won't help CLE as much as they think. Now, in a team already full of 3pts launchers, he can have more space than he ever had...

Agreed. It's mind-boggling how short-sighted and regrettable that signing is. And almost instantly. After acquiring Bembry, Prince and THJ in successive drafts -- and with Korver and Thabo already here:
Why was Kent Bazemore made one of the highest paid Hawks in franchise history?
Because of our "need" on the wings?
Because of his "high ceiling"?

Best of luck to Kyle. Hope he wins a title.
Wish we had gotten more in return.

Hawks look rather silly with him sitting on the bench, I get support, but damn.

Because he's a fan favorite, like they thought fro Dwight (even if he can produce).
I'll remember the optimistic moment when Dwight was signed and we still had cap hold for Horford, and then the news came for the Bazemore signing. At this moment, we were in trouble, because a trade was needed to keep Horford's cap hold and be able to re-sign him.
If only Bazemore has consistently produce this season, it would be different, but he's the main guy not impacting the team, more he hurts the team at this moment.
Yesterday, he has impact and ATL won. Today 2pts and 0 Plus/Minus and we struggle to win (Thabo has Plus-14 and THJ Plus-7).
It looks like he plays correctly when he wants...

Would convincing Cleveland to add onto the trade that they take Bazemore for JR Smith be desirable to you?

Hawks trade Korver to Cleveland
I suspect that this trade, more than even Jeff or Horford, is the move that forces us into a rebuild.
Korver became the wise old sage, the voice of wisdom and the heart and soul of this squad.
I can't imagine any scenario where Millsap would even want to re-sign with us now. Horford, Korver, Demarre and Teague shared Player of the Month honors two years ago.
Now 80% of that starting unit is gone.

Yea, this is a big hit on the Millsap front no doubt. Maybe that's why we've been "aggressively" pursuing a trade involving him.
Hindsight is 20/20 right now, but we'd be in such a better position moving forward had we traded Al last year, or had we just given Al that $6 mil total extra he wanted over the Summer and then traded Sap to Denver. I feel like that stinginess on the Horford front will haunt us for years to come.

You got that right, brother.
Either of those moves would have left us in a drastically better place than we are today. Waiting until the last minute when dealing with impending free agents has not served us well.

Crazy how a team can win 60 games, and 1 and a half years later they are going into a full on rebuild, or at least it seems.
I feel for you guys, and it's a reality check to Raptors fans like myself that this period of success can be gone so quickly

Re: Hawks trade Korver to Cleveland
I hate GM Bud. **** him! Why the hell to Cavs, team I dislike the most? So now I'll have to root against Korver in finals plus he won't get much PT there so he might have hard time to catch Terry for 3rd all-time in threes made.

Eh, Al isn't exactly having a banner year. All the aspects of his game that posters complained about and were trying to hang solely on Bud have only become exacerbated in Boston and they are what...only a game and half ahead of the "struggling" Hawks? Management were trying to split the difference between being conscious of the future and continuity. They were already bending their back upping their offer for Al and entertaining scenarios to accommodate him but would not break knowing the future implications of investing that much over that period of time to a guy who you know will no-show against Cleveland and having middling "assets" flanking that decision.

Yup, it's the nature of this league and sports in general. Unless you have that transcendent talent (Lebron) your window could always close unexpectedly. That 2014/15 team caught lightning in a bottle and turned it into a 33-2 stretch. A short while later, and it's clear that that was just an anomaly.
