Noel's Trade Value is at its Highest Now

Which option do you prefer?

Keep Noel knowing he won't play more than 20 minutes per night but you get 48 minutes of rim protection with him and Embiid while paying Noel max or near max money

Trade Noel for someone like Ross or Powell or a player of that caliber who will get more minutes and could play 25-30 minutes at a position of need

Noel's Trade Value is at its Highest Now

Post#1 » by Unbreakable99 » Sat Jan 7, 2017 3:18 pm

Noel has been playing great. His trade value is at its peak right now.

Assuming Embiid ups his minutes next season and is not longer on minutes restriction and he plays about 34 minutes per night, Noel can probably only play a max of 20 minutes per night. I don't want to trade Noel and would be perfectly fine with paying him whatever and matching any offer. But right now Noel probably has his best trade value right now. I actually think we now can get a quality player for him.

Would you rather trade Noel now and get one of Powell or Ross or someone on that level who will be able to play many more minutes and give us a position of need or keep Noel for max or near max money and play about 15-20 minutes per night?

Don't want Noel traded for anything, until Okafor is gone. Don't want to get stuck in a position where we have to play him significant minutes the next 3 years.

noel is a great backup center and would start on many teams

unless we get a piece back for him that is valuable longterm, we're better off maxing him. Okafor has to go

If Noel buys in and accept his role as the first big coming off the bench, then I am all for re-signing him. I don't think we would get nearly fair value for him. Powell or Ross won't cut it. Impactwise they are not close to Noel.

Still, in the great scheme of things, Noel and Okafor have to be moved at some point. We can't have 2 player with a max deal at 1 position when there are other places that need to be filled. But then again, we can invest into Noel while our rooks are still on friendly contracts.

I don't think Embiid is actually going to play 34 minutes per game. And I don't think he's gonna play in more than 70 games. There will be minutes for another center to play.

Keeping Noel allows you to be more cautious with Embiid, which will hopefully extend his career.

I'd take a good offer for him (IE not Powell) but I'd be perfectly happy going forward with him on the team as long as he is on board with what is going on.

If we trade Okafor and sign Noel, and can't find enough minutes for him long term then he will be tradable. I think that a signed Noel has more trade value than the current Noel.

Just sign him, and go from there. I think we can find him 25-28 minutes a night pretty easily just by him sharing the floor with Embiid 4-5 minutes a half.

Would be extremely surprised to see either moved before Simmons comes back. I doubt the team does anything(even using Hollis spot) before he get's on the court just my gut feeling.

I'd imagine it would be 15 minutes backup Center and 15 minutes with Embiid, if Embiid is logging 33 mpg.

Is Noel's value at its "peak"? He's only played over 12 minutes about 3 times this season. He was just getting DNP-CD until two weeks ago.

If they move Okafor and get him 25 per night, Id imagine his value could get much higher.

I think Embiid will average like 30, Noel could get the other 18 plus a quick 3 minute run with him each half (the way they did last night). That's 24, plus he'd play more on the nights Embiid is in foul trouble and like 35 the 10-15 games a year Embiid sits out.

It's not ideal, but it's something we can afford to do as long as so much of the team is still on rookie deals.

His trade value is certainly not at its peak. It would have been at its peak after his rookie season he played. It will be higher than it is now at the deadline when the "final" offers come through, but I still wouldn't deal him at this point unless it's an actual good deal.

Even if he doesn't start, he is a great rotational piece. Having that defense, even when Embiid leaves the game, is quite a luxury.

i don't think Noel wants to play backup. if he's getting 30 minutes a game, along with a lucrative contract, it's possible he'd consider staying as an integral part of a contesting franchise. but we got so much talent at pf, and Holmes could easily cover 15 minutes a night of pure backup. still i hope Nerlens turns into the next Rodman and stays to do crazy good things for the team.

I would keep Noel and trade Okafor. Embiid is not a sure bet to not get hurt again. If we trade Noel and Okafor and Embiid goes down, who is our center? I like having Noel as a backup and paying him 16mil a year shouldn't be a problem for the next 3-4 years. After that we can trade him once Embiid proves he is not injury prone.

Noel is the ultimate embiid insurance.

If Noel is starting to hit those mid range jumpers, then you keep Noel forever. He is an oddball player on offense and one of the most versatile defensive big men in the league. You can play him and Embiid together. I also believe you can add Simmons to that lineup too.

Return to Philadelphia 76ers
