Why the F are Cano and Abreu Out?!?!?

Post#1 » by LamboNYK » Sat Jul 14, 2007 12:44 am

You gotta be kidding me. Torre giving them a day off?!? WE JUST HAD THE AS BREAK!! How does Torre do this? we're trying to start the most important streak of the season, against a team that gives us problems, the night after one of Abreu's best..........And we're fielding a bottom of the order of PHILLIPS KT and CAIRO!!!! Look at those names! Our season's on the line. And shame on Cano and Abreu for not stepping up and demanding to play. These are our playoffs from now on, rest of the season. Im f'in furious......there better be a real good explanation.

What, you dont think ARod and Jeter tell Torre theyre not sitting out? They would flip on him if he tried sitting them during a stretch like this. These games are crucial.

Jeter and ARod are hall of famers. Cano and Abreu...not so much. Especially against a lefty. If Torre wants to sit them, they're sitting.

Yeah obv they dont have as much clout, but this is a borderline indefensible move, to sit them BOTH and essentially handicap yourself 3 outs down to 6 batters. I dont see how something this egregious could get by the coaching staff and all the players without someone b!tchsmacking this senile fart.

Trust me I totally agree they should be playing. You gotta throw your best 9 out there, forget the splits. Cano may be 1 for 9 against Kazmir, but it isn't as if Cairo is a right-handed verson of Cano. I'd rather Cano face a lefty blindfolded with one arm tied behind his back than start Cairo. I was just saying that you can't expect Cano or Abreu to fight Torre's decision.

Clutch K by Phillips! Cant wait to see Calm Joe after the game: "Well Andys been swinging the bat well, and Kaz was a lefty so I figured..."

Hes totally lost it.

Yeah, it's Jeter's fault that he scolded a ball and the fielder made a nice play and caught it.

i wonder why we always struggle against good lefties, not sure if it has anything to do with abreu, cano and damon.

Who cares? They had a bad first half. They have both shown to be tremendous hitters. Abreu in particular throughout his entire career has mashed lefties. Cano hasn't hit lefties well, but when his replacement is Cairo, I'd rather have Cano at the plate.

Joe Torre is the king of using small sample sizes (aka half a season) and ignoring the entire career of a hitter.

why bother making any changes since everyone on the team has proven to be a good player at one point.

I can't believe I'm arguing whether Cairo and KT are better alternatives than Abreu or Cano, in any situation and/or at any time. It's ridiculous, we are in a must-win situation for the rest of the year and Joe wants to play the backups? Unbelievable, this is the reason why I can't wait for the door to hit him on the ass on the way out.

Phillips KT and Cairo have proven to be AMAZING....

This is the playoffs for us right now. These guys just had the ASG off. Abreu went 3-4 w/ a jack last night. Cano has been heating up. You DONT PULL them.

I could see giving one of them the day off, but two is just asking for trouble.
