Meliorus wrote:I guess the blame is not directed at Thornton, but rather Brooks playing him/Ernie's disastrous free agency.

Now you're getting it. And specifically, the blame falls on Ernie. Brooks is only doing the best he can with limited options.

One can argue that McClellan might be a better option, but it's far from certain given the available data, and we also need to factor that Brooks sees these guys in practice while we don't.

Except, McClellan is better, Burke at the 2 is better, Oubre at the 2 is better, Sato at the 2 is better. It's Brooks fault completely

Sheesh. Burke & Sato are demonstrably worse than Thornton. McClellan is an undrafted rookie. Love to see more of him, of course, but, brother, you don't know he's better than Thornton. In fact, you don't know the first thing about how good he is or isn't. Nor do I. Nor does anyone. As Meliorus points out. But you didn't read his post, did you?

As to Oubre at the 2, I've explained in my last post why that is not a likely possibility.

Edit: actually, Nat, why don't you try to explain why Burke and/or Satoransky would be better than Thornton. Try to use numbers, the real stuff that players actually put up or don't when they are on the floor. I mean, rather than saying, you know, something like "they'd be better, cuz he's so bad" or other words to that effect.

Does watching McClellan's 4 years of playing on national tv for Texas and Miami count? You also act like Satoransky wasn't going to have some sort of adjustment period coming to the NBA.

Trey Burke is shooting 47% from 3, 45% from the field compared to Marcus Thornton's 40%(lol). It's not like Thornton rebounds or defends at all or brings anything else but inefficient me first chucking. You can look up some random cherry picked advanced stat to support your underpaid narrative though.

Playing Otto at the 2 would be better. Playing Beal 48 minutes until his legs die would be better. Playing Randy wittman at the 2 would be better.

Wasn't it Fran that said Satoransky would be a top 15 pick in last years draft if he came out that year? And after 20 games in his rookie season and Meliorus is over here calling him a bust, but I'll make sure to read all of his posts lol
