Our go-to lineup should be something along the lines of Butler-Wade-McDermott-Mirotic-Gibson.

He's not very good defensively, slow to rotate, short armed. The opposition realizes that and targets him. For reasons that I don't fully understand (a basket is a basket) teams will go after defensive weaknesses more late in a game than early in a game. That was why Valanciunas was on the bench -- the Raps have been burned too many times by teams targeting JV late in games, he's slow footed on the P&R.

We are 8th in the Eastern Conference, they are still #2.

That's what the don't trade Jimmy crowd needs to read over and over. This team isn't contending for a championship anytime soon....trade him now with an offer we can't refuse, rebuild, and we will be the ones on top of the conference standings in due time.

Might as well without an official PG, because our alleged PGs in MCW and Grant aren't PGs.

Ten teams in the East have the same idea. It's not as if the Bulls would be the only team having a bad record and looking to stock up on young players for the future. Why we will end up on top? Who's to say that we won't be Orlando?

Even worse, we could be watching Kris Dunn take 25 shots a game.

Give Jimmy a six-year extension already. **** it.

T-Wolves lost again tonight. And they were supposed to be a can't miss rebuilding project. What year are they on?

Tied for worst record in the West, oh well, guess they need *another* draft pick. Fun fun.

Nah, they will be fine once they find a proven winning coach.

Defense is a problem in that lineup. I know it is unconventional and will not happen but I would try Jimmy, MCW, Doug, Niko and Taj.

I don't like the concept of putting Jimmy on quick PGs. He is already getting the ball on offense for every possession. The Bulls need somebody else to guard guys like Irving.

What concerns me is that slow to rotate/slow-footed issue is tough to overcome. As his career goes on be looking for the "Felicio is lazy" narrative to start. Sometimes guys really are just too slow to effectively react and get into position. We shall see...

I do not agree that the Bulls should even consider trading Jimmy unless they get the entire Cavs team in return. As far as the Bulls not contending for a championship, only 3 or 4 teams really do that in any given season. If everyone who wasn't realistically contending did with their team what you are suggesting the Bulls do, we would all be watching some pretty %^&*&% up basketball. No thanks.

Also, you assert that "we will be on top of the standings in due time". Is your timetable the same as the Sixers and T-wolves timetable was/is?

Well, defense might be a problem but offensively it's a much better lineup than that one. MCW is a good defender, but unless you have him set the screen for Jimmy every time he's not going to give you anything at all off the ball on offense.

82games.com's flawed but usually useful Production stats, which attempts to measure how a player fares against his opposing mark, when the player is on the court -

Butler 2012
+2.5

Butler 2013
+5.5

Butler 2014
+4.6

Butler 2015
+9.7

Butler 2016
+10.8

Butler 2017
+13.6

KAT 2017
+3.8

LaVine 2017
+3.4

Wiggins 2017
+3.3

The good news is those guys are ahead of Jimmy at the same age. The bad news is, they're behind 2nd year Jimmy. When your very best player isn't as good as 2nd year Butler, your team ain't winning much.

40 PPG, seems reasonable.

When they guys in the league are posting NBA record's like in triple double (most since Oscar) or best 3pt shooting in history, both attempts and percentage, or just by crusing through the league posting Lebron's like nothing, and on top of that when new guys start putting and becoming 1st NBA player ever in top 20 in PTS-REB-AST-STL-BLK in same season. In game where both Lebron and Jordan existed. Yh. He does.

Cause that's what superstars do.

You might want to check all the advanced stats, he's already top 10 in virtually all of them.

What superstars do, Jimmy just did tonight, and this whole week.

Yep. As someone who always has qualified Jimmy as a "borderline" superstar, his play the last few games has been "elite" superstar, not borderline. I was a little worried early last night. He was getting caught in the lane and committing turnovers trying to pass back out. He just diodn;t seem as sharp. I have to admit I was thinking "it's not going to be Jimmy's night to save us this time". But sure enough, Q4 rolls around and the guy starts leaping tall buildings in single bounds.

I was glad to see Niko and Doug hit a couple big shots. They missed a couple as well but kept shooting with confidence. Jimmy can't do this ever Q4 (can he?) and we need to know that those guys can step up, especially when Jimmy has already exerted all of that energy to carry the game into overtime.

Wade won't really get in the way of it now.

Biggest gain will be his assists, and passing that everyone has been bellyaching over. Before he was in a scorer role, now he's in a dual role.

Hell, Wade was refusing to take the ball in the backcourt and waving at Jimmy to bring the ball up and continue his domination lol.

It was very smart of Wade because the Raptors were trying to deny the ball to Jimmy and if he gets the ball with only 5 or 6 seconds left, then he will obviously rush into something.

Let Jimmy bring up the ball and that way if they triple team him, he can get someone else an easy shot.

Even the good news is sort of iffy because most players who get as good as Jimmy don't have the same meteoric late career rise as he did. Comparing young players to him would allow a big chunk of the draft from each year to still be on his pace by the 2nd/3rd year, but out of that group very few will make it.

If the point is saying its still possible a Lavine could bust out like Jimmy, certainly true, but most definitely do not. Lavine *has* improved each year like Jimmy though, so that's a good sign, but most players that become superstars are probably ahead of where he is in year 3.
