CCJ, I'm very aware of how they lost the game. "One terrible ending to one game isn't going to kill their season." The Terps weren't even ranked in the top 30 going into the game. It wasn't shocking to see them lose an ugly one. Next you're going to explain why the Skins loss stings?

Sorry if I came off like I was talking down to you, Ruz. Just that I'm spread pretty thin and trying to stay connected all over the place. I'm not able to watch or track the games as much as I MIGHT like. OTOH, life is getting interesting for me. Lots of women .. errr ..

WP: I'm pleased with the beat down the Lady Terrapins put on Nebraska following the UConn loss.

No problem, CCJ. I tend to get overly defensive when my teams lose heart-breakers.

Nice win by Md men on Saturday against Michigan. That makes up for Nebraska loss but now need to beat a slumping Indiana team on Tuesday, which will be tough.

Coach Mark Turgeon is proud of the defense. They are tougher.

Very good win by Md over IU. Indiana obviously misses Yogi at the point. Maryland misses Melo. Oh, that's right, he played. Missed at least five good looks down the stretch but they found a way because they have three really good freshmen in Huerter, Cowan, and Jackson. All three don't seem to play great on the same night, but very impressed with their poise. That steal by Cowan late in the game for lay in and those three-pointers by Huerter plus the rebound and Unseld-like outlet to Cowan for a layup were sensational plays by young players. The better news is that none of these guys are remotely ready for the NBA, so they will have them for at least two years and probably 3-4.

Melo was the ONLY returning starter for Maryland. The MD kids play hard and are fun to watch. The team does get burned by quick perimeter players, because the bigs are slow to rotate once an opponent makes any dribble drive penetration.

Please observe Dodd on closeouts. He is not slow.

Watch his rebounding rate.

Dodd blocks shots very well. I believe he will finish his career strong.

He averages 19 minutes per game as a senior. And he's not a good rebounder. He blocks shots, but I don't think he's a particularly good defender. You saw how the Terps lost to Nebraska - it was layup after layup after layup at the end. I don't remember if Dodd was in there at the time, but again - he plays just 19 minutes a game.
