I could live with McVay and Wolf even though I want Shanny more

That brings further questions about Wolf and his future with Green Bay

To add it was the Chiefs that denied Ballard from interviewing not Ballard rejecting the interview. Which makes sense now if the Chiefs are worried about Dorsey leaving for GB eventually.

Also it was reported that the 49ers were impressed with both Packers execs so if Wolf feels like he's going to be blocked and he and McDaniels will be buddy buddy I can see Wolf to the 9ers gain some steam.

Not possible. Teams can't block their personnel from seeking job advancement. Ballard rejected the interview because he recognizes a dumpster fire, career-ender when he sees one. Good for him. I wouldn't bother interviewing with these clowns either.

Untrue. Teams can block their GMs from interviews until the season is over

Still believe McDaniels is York's number 1 so I think whoever they pick for GM is going to be someone that wants McDaniels and someone that McDaniels wants to work with.

I'd say if you don't start seeing movement after the Riddick interview since there is a few days gap before they talk to the Seattle crew it means they are lurking and waiting for people that are part of playoff teams.

Sure I will take both Wolf and Gutekunst. Wolf as GM, Guntekunst as VP of Personnel :)

I agree, I think McDaniels is the top choice. I've been holding out hope for Shanahan plus the more I read about McVay, the more I like him.

Would McVay and a Wolf be the youngest GM/HC combo in history? Gotta be.

I'm hoping these reports are only because they haven't interviewed Riddick yet.

Silver says no team has offered McDaniels yet. I'm wondering if Jed might be slow playing this due to fear of rejection.

I do believe that they'd be the youngest. McVay would be the youngest coach. I actually am not against it, the more I read about him, the more I'm on board with McVay. I'm hoping that Denver does take Joseph so that we can have a shot at Shanahan.

I still think McDaniels is the most likely guy though.

SoCaliSteph:
So, I've got a source w a head nod indicating Gamble is York's pick for GM. He's an "unsung hero in scouting". Back to the Bama game.

Then we'd know for sure that they aren't committed to the complete rebuild that they said they were and 49ers football can continue its slide to Jaguar football status.

After that dog and pony show, to go back to
Gamble might be enough for a lot of fans to give up

I was actually excited about 49ers football again. That better not be true.

I said somewhere else that despite the X # of GM's interviewed, it would be Gamble getting the job a la the Kelly hire....

Damn shame considering the up n coming gm candidates

I'm hoping this is false. Apparently this is the same
lady who tweeted that her source told her that we were signing Hue.

If they end up with Gamble and some crappy head coach, ignoring the young talent out there. Then I'm done, they won't get another penny from me until Jed is gone.

Because Jed York is an incompetent, arrogant jackass. I, without a single doubt in my mind, fully expect another top 3 pick in the draft for the next five years.

For the record, my cats are more qualified to pick successful football personnel than Jed York is. That shouldn't be surprising. The garbage that got picked up in front of my house on Wednesday is also more qualified to pick successful football personnel than Jed York is.

Exactly whom can we hire at GM that would be considered subpar to mediocre who would want the position knowing that Dipshi...er...Jed hired the coach before the GM was even consulted? If dummy York was serious about a culture change, he would have fired Baalke when the team went 1-4, installed Sackorpick as the starting QB and proceeded to lose the next 10 games, back in October and hired his replacement then so that the GM could ACTUALLY hire his next HC.

To sum up, I fully expect Jed and Parphloogie to hire the worst candidates possible. I trust their ability to screw this up bar none. I in no way believe that a single mid-level hire is even remotely considering accepting this garbage heap of a job offer. I will be outright shocked if anybody with aspirations of having a successful NFL career even picks up the phone when Jed and Punkrag call (though I strongly doubt that Jed and Farfignugen even have a clue who those people are).

Ok. Simply put. Taking Jed and Paraag out of the picture. Who would you like to see get an interview or be under consideration for the two jobs? Outside of never having to see or utter Jed and Paraag's face and name again, what else would you hope to see? What would a realistic Warty interview list look like? I say realistic because wishing a Jim Harbaugh return or a Belichick hire, if you're in that camp, is obviously not realistic, and frankly not worth anybody's time anymore.

Well if I had one, I'd probably be in the business of selecting them. Obviously I don't as a disenfranchised fan of a terrible organization. The problem with that argument is a matter of trust. I trust the Giants to find quality personnel. I trust the Patriots to find quality personnel. I trust the Steelers to find quality personnel. I can't believe ANYBODY trusts Jed York to find quality personnel, and then get out of the way and let them do what they're hired to do. I could study the league for a week (assuming that were my job) and come up with the same list that Jed and Paraag came up with. Interviewing the best candidates who apply is easy. Hiring quality personnel obviously is not Jed's forte. I don't see how it's possible to take Jed and Paraag out of the picture anyway. They're the ones doing the hiring and backstabbing over the past three years.

Having said all of that, I like Shanahan above most. I'm tired of "defense first" where the offense is an embarrassment. I'd like to see an offense not predicated around 1960's philosophy that relies on the defense for 40 minutes to win the game. I don't like McDaniels, because I think he's going to fail without Belichick and Brady, especially in this organization. Lynn I find ridiculous (so much so that I think he's likely the clear front runner for the job). I also don't like the Saban direction. I think, like Kelly, he's not going to succeed at this level. Not in SB fashion anyway.

As far as GM is concerned, I'm not thrilled with Riddick. I think if he were as talented as he's being touted, he wouldn't have been an analyst for the past three years. If he were as good as people think he is, I can't imagine why he'd want to come here. His rhetoric regarding this being the best job available (laughable if you actually analyze it realistically) is simply pathetic and desperate. Also, I don't want anything to do with anyone in the Seahawks front office, or the Vikings. The Vikings are a bad joke. The Seahawks are unravelling at the seams before our eyes. I'm okay with Wolf, though I think he'll ultimately turn York down the way Ballard and Caserio did (also both of whom I was happy with).

All of this is kind of irrelevant though, isn't it? It doesn't matter who my list of candidates is. I'm not the owner. I don't get to make inconsequential terrible decisions and still be a billionaire.

(To the part in bold). No, not entirely irrelevant. I know how passionate/emotional/angry you are and most, if not all, of your posts for quite a while now are of the same tone with a central theme. I asked because I wanted names and to get something other than some of that emotional passion you have. You gave me some names. Thank you.

By all accounts Gamble is a great talent evaluator (both the draft and in FA) and understands organizational structure. He's also extremely respected around the league and would bring in a lot of talent on board.

If he's our choice, I can't complain. It's between he and Riddick for me.

If Gamble is the guy then why isn't he taking part in the interviews for HCs?
Does he for second round interviews?

I believe thats false. York pretty much said it in his presser, that all coaches and scouts including Gamble are free to look elsewhere. Matt Maiocco confirmed it too.

Exactly. Why the dog and pony show? Why not have him help with the interviews? Why not promote him already? Why are they still doing GM interviews?

All of it makes us look just as dysfunctional and clueless as we all thought

Ok I just rewatched the York presser from Jan 2 and here is the quote: "I have a ton of respect for Tom Gamble, but I think it's time that we get two new people at the helm."
