It's annoying how if I quote someone's post that contains other quotes, I have to go back and delete everything I didn't want to quote. Also the current system results in super long multi-quoted posts that needlessly take up a ton of space.

There's an alternative to deleting (maybe a little convoluted in its own right): hit "Post Reply" button at bottom, then highlight and quote what you're specifically addressing. Frequently, a response is addressing issues raised in multiple preceding posts, so it makes sense to be able to quote the chain, but a simple option to just quote the immediately preceding posts would be nice. Don't think that gets done at the Wiz board level though.

Gonna unsticky this b/c no traction in letting AFM pick our status titles.

One thing we will be changing in the future is this: For less active boards on RealGM, we'll be hosting/sharing a joint game thread. It'll help posters from the more lightly-trafficed forums get into a better game thread environment and also should be pretty cool experience for us.

First experiment will be the Wiz/OKC game in February.

P.S. Anyone want to be okay with AFM being status nickname guru, sing out on this thread.

I feel like the thread subjects are too narrowly focused, and there are too many threads.

IMO there shouldn't be individual player threads - just threads about broader subjects like the draft, trades/free agency, game threads, general NBA discussion and maybe one-off threads about huge topics like Gilbert Arenas' gun incident. I'm probably missing a few or mischaracterizing, but you get the idea. I do think all non-Wizards NBA discussion should be contained in its own single thread and titled something similar to how I described it.

Currently the conversation is too silo'd and is effectively limited by thread topic. It's too easy to derail the topic of the thread as well.

I don't go to other boards too often, but my impression is that the mods and board culture here keeps the number of threads way down on this board compared to others with similar or even more traffic.

pine, I recall saying a similar thing; but, in a way that offended.

I am proud to say that I've got a lot more Jesus in me these days.

Also a lot of Psychosocial Rehabilitation. That s*** is good!

So is mindfulness-- mindfulness meditation!

Yeah we could kind of let threads and things grow out like weeds for a while. But I promise I won't be the one starting spurious threads like I used to back in the day.

I care about the consensus of people -- it is not about me.

Going by the numbers on RealGM's NBA Team Forums Index, Wizards board has one of the best post-to-topic ratios, which somewhat speaks to your comment about mods efforts and the board culture that has developed through the years to limit the proliferation of topics. I'll admit that even I thought there were too many EG threads, although I thoroughly enjoyed trashing him in all of them.

At times the mods have had to judiciously combine Ernie threads. We all know that milellie111 is going to start a new thread shilling Ernie and Ted whenever the Wizards go on a 3 game winning streak, but those are entertaining to me.

This would be the status where I'm currently "Starter"? I'm fine with AFM determining those.
