What a pride swallowing siege it is to watch the Knicks this year... so many years.

you understand my point though. We are bad. 100% the truth no denying that. But what is our next option. First time in a long time we are bad and can rewarded with picks. Whether you think thats not enough that your opinion. I'm just saying. Phil firing isn't turning this franchise around because Dolan is still here. And firing phil is going to do anything but probably set us back another 5 years because the new guy is going to be pressured into winning right away. You know what that means.

if he can manage to move Melo for anything worthwhile in a rebuild, Phil can stay.

I think that is why I want to continue to keep Phil. He would be able to move melo while taking the heat from the media...he has been doing it for the last 2 years. I would be worried with Dolan making the move because I feel he would side with Melo and trade picks to make delusional Melo feel we are one player away from turning this around.

I want him to stick around because his scouts are good and it looks like we're gonna be in a good draft position tbh. If we're talking tank and rebuild, the fact that Phil's had scouts picking up talent both undrafted and in the draft is the one part I don't think is even up for debate. KP, Willy, Kuz, Randle, Baker, Galloway...not all world beaters but all better than where we got them or what we paid them.

Absolutely, I think it's an interesting observation to make though, that as much as every game thread starts with dogging Melo for isolation ball stagnating things...this looked like a designed game plan to run Iso's to KP and it caused the same stagnation with even less efficacy.

Yeah, I have to agree with this. I'm not directly comparing us to the Spurs, but one thing that they, and several other successful teams, have been able to do is find talented guys on the down-low who turn out to be contributors. And Phil (or whomever is ultimately responsible for it) has been able to do something similar, even without Pop/Duncan/Parker/Manu making these guys look good.

but that is all part of his development. Eventually, to be the player we need him to be and one of the best players in the NBA. He needs to take a 6'6 guard down low and make that a mismatch and score every time so they can't switch which opens up a lot more for the offense.

I was wondering why the bulls were bad last year even with Derrick. I see nothing has changed.

The over the hill vets dont work. Please just blow it up please. On paper its pretty but Noah has not been the same, Melo cant guard me, and Rose cant keep a corpse in front of him. They cant get it done and most of it is their deteriorating bodies. They cant help themselves.

Jennings for all that talk he dont play D at all. Fundamentals way off and always gets blown by.

that's it for me. I don't really care if Phil eventually gets replaced, but the last thing we need is a new GM with a mandate to build a contender around Melo. Let Phil do the dirty work since he's the idiot that gave Melo a NTC.

And the new person is also going to feel like they have to re-sign Carmelo when he becomes a free agent.

If you want Phil to leave, it has to be after Carmelo is moved/not re-sign and not before. Carmelo, Lebron, and Paul didn't go into those meetings with the owners for nothing.

If i'm not mistaken what the Players Union did to change the "Over-36 Rule" to the now "Over-38 Rule", this would now allow Carmelo to sign a 4-year max deal if he opts-out of his contract next summer, that way his 4 year contract would end at the age of 38.
