My quick thoughts on this WIN:

:)

Great to see Wall get a game winner!
Great to see "the death lineup" of deneem4 on the court at the end: Wall Beal Porter Oubre Gortat
Bobby Portis is very good. Oubre is very promising.
Denzel Valentine (who EG didn't draft due to the Morris trade) is very good.
My favorite Doug McDermott (Omaha, NE; Creighton) isn't as good as I projected him to be.

Great win for the Wizards!
Tre Johnson is the future of the Wizards.

The starters play heavy minutes, but it's not totally out of line compared to other superstars btw. teams.

Wall is just 22nd in total minutes played. (Gortat 16, Porter 29, Beal 61, Morris 65)

In terms of minutes per game it looks a little bit worse (Wall 8, Gortat 9, Beal 26, Porter 37, Morris 68). But again, guys like Lebron, Lowry, Butler, Davis or Harden play more minutes per game.

That's the difference between having a championship vet like Pierce or even a younger vet like ariza or nene...they recognize the best player and play to see them at they're best...
Having your best player performing the best....especially when it's team input vs team deficiencies...
Is essential...

Wow, first time the Wizards have been OVER 500 since November 25, 2015. They reached 500 a number of times the rest of last season (including the end!) but haven't been over.

These "come back from 10+ down" victories are upsetting my neighbors.

That was a fun win but can we please get a blow out soon instead? For my nerves.

Well, in fairness, we took Mike Pence off their hands. Taking back Mahinmi is the least they can do.

Denzel and Portis combined for 8 3's. Bulls should be playing/developing both with more minutes to see if they are building blocks for their future - rather than role players.

ESPN Stats and Information

John Wall's game-winning shot was his first go-ahead FG in the last 5 seconds of the 4th quarter/OT in his NBA career. He was 0-of-16 on such shots entering the night.

That stat is misleading. I'm sure Wall has made some go ahead free throws. And, this season anyway, Wall has been rock solid in the final 2 minutes.

So far, this year, excluding tonight's game, Wall has a 50% eFG% in the final 2 minutes of the 4th and OT on 46 shot attempts. That's pretty damn good since nearly all of those attempts are isolation plays. And that stat doesn't factor the FT's he has made, which would probably get his TS% well above 60%.

It's a cherry-picked stat, but it's still startling and shows some of the problems Wall and the Wiz have had in the past.

Yeah, can't argue with that. The Wizards have been terrible on last second shots for a while now. I just didn't like the implication that Wall was somehow anti-clutch this year. He has been poor in the clutch in the past, but he has been very, very good this year.

Agreed - and no doubt that experience and hard work have made him a better player.
