Rules

- Once the clock starts each manager will have a maximum of 2 hours to make their pick. (NOTE: The clock stops at midnight to 9 AM EDT.)

- After you make your pick, please quote or PM the person after you in the order to let them know it's their turn.

- We are using a modified snake draft order: ABBABABA

- All FGA and other relevant stats will be taken from basketball-reference.com. The FGA limit is 90.

- If you don't think you'll be around when it's your pick, please PM a shortlist to myself, Hawk Eye, or any other participant.

- Please post draft picks only in this thread. If you want to hype up your pick and/or quote the next person please do everything in one post. Another thread will be started for general discussion.

- Any player from the 1989-90 season to the 2008-09 season is eligible.

- Each player on your roster must play at least 8 minutes in playoff matchups.

I'm not sure if this is really a rule, but I like the pictures so go ahead and post one along with your pick. 8-)

Absolute monster on both ends of the floor, carried a subpar Minny team to 58 wins and a conference finals trip.

Unique building block that i'm happy to get here

I really was hoping someone else would take him as had him a couple times. I am going to try to build a different team than usual around him and can't let him slip any farther. Really wanted someone to take him before me.

This is actually tough for me as the guys I really wanted are gone (MJ and KG) and I have this little voice trying to convince me to go with my gut and follow JR and just grab the dude I want but I'm gonna be nice to Pelifan
Spoiler:
and not snag magic from him
and go with the more "obvious" pick:

Alrighty, gimme this guy. I figured this draft position would give me the chance to build around a guy I've never built around before.

The ebb and flow of the draft has given me such an opportunity, and I also feel that he's the best cornerstone available at this spot.

He probably didn't actually say that, but I like imagining he did.

Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

With the 12th pick in the 90s & 00s Fantasy Draft, ChicagoSportsFan21 selects...

Spoiler:
Dwayne Wade-SG-Miami Heat

I'm excited to build around a player that I have never built around in D-Wade. He's a 2 way player who is efficient on both sides of the ball. I think he's the best overall player available on the board. He had some monster peak seasons in 06/09 (highest PER in the NBA Finals ever). Wade's a true warrior, champion, and consummate team player who will evolve his game and do what it takes to win. Let's do this!

With my pick, I am going to go a little outside the box, and pick someone who should probably be taken a little bit later, but I can't pass up the value he brings on only 12.4 FGA for the year I will be using for him. My pick is Dwight Howard.

This won't win me too many points for originality (I think Hawk Eye started the last draft exactly the same ) but it'll have to do under the circumstances.

I'll take Sir Charles and Mt. Mutombo.

With the 21st pick in the 90s & 00s Fantasy Draft, ChicagoSportsFan21 selects...

Spoiler:
Alonzo Mourning-C-Miami Heat

Zo is reuniting with his old pal Wade! With centers flying one by one, I'm getting one of the last centers if not the last who is a solid 2 way player. Zo is going to be my defensive anchor for this team and be ready for a block party. I love the passion he plays with on every play. His ability to hit mid-range shot and be a decent offensive option is an added bonus. The low FGA helps too with this decision.
