KG Hired as Consultant for the Clippers

Post#1 » by Devils Advocate » Tue Jan 10, 2017 10:12 pm

I'm hearing from a close friend of mine that works for a pro team that KG has been hired as a consultant for the Clippers. Not seeing anything official anywhere but this guys always tells me news a day or so before it happens. Do you guys think this move will help the team or is it just Doc hiring someone else he likes personally?

Well this is better than hiring KG to play starting PF while Griffin is out. lol

I wish he done this with Paul Pierce instead of playing him too.

He did work with them during training camp too so it must've been a good experience for both parties. I think he could help out Blake and DJ a lot. They now have Sam Cassell and KG on the staff. Talk about competitiveness.

it wouldn't be bad. one thing that ray allen perfected is consistency with his form.

I like the move, I don't think it will hurt us. I'm surprised that it didn't happen sooner, since he was with us in training camp. Now Doc better not sign KG to a 10-day contract or for the vet minimum.
I've been an LA Clipper fan since 1998 and that will never change. I hate our new logo and jerseys!

Garnett Could Be The Clipper's Missing Piece

Post#11 » by Wammy Giveaway » Thu Jan 12, 2017 5:14 am

Kevin Garnett worked with the Clippers during training camp. Since his visit, the Clippers had a 14-2 start.

When KG left to do TV work, the Clippers went on a 6-game losing streak and suffered an 8-9 December.

KG is the Clipper's switch. Like Ann Wolfe, his presence helps maintain that mental toughness, something the Clippers clearly lack on their own, simply because they're too nice and meanness is not within their character. Doc Rivers has lost it with his three ejections this season. Now he's on the hot seat, his job on the line. Reuniting with Garnett saves his job, for the moment.

I don't think Ray Allen joins the Clippers. He bolted the Celtics Big 3 and joined forces with LeBron James. But there may be other former Celtics breed who hooks up with Doc. For example, I'd keep an eye on Rajon Rondo. He could become a buyout candidate and sign with the Clippers as a last ditch effort to salvage his position in the NBA.

However, an acquisition might not happen with the Clippers at all. Doc Rivers is very insistent on keeping the team together. He thinks not making a single transaction (no trades, no waives, no signings, no 10-day contract tryouts) will lead them to a championship, and it's not farfetched. The last team to win a championship without a single move mid-season is the 2010 Los Angeles Lakers...

The same team who Doc Rivers lost to as the Celtics head coach in the NBA Finals.

This makes it seem like KG was there while they were 14-2 then he left and then they went 8-9, this isn't true. Also the 8-9 in December includes an 0-5 stretch without Paul. Even though the team didn't maintain the crazy 14-2 pace, they were still 8-4 in December in the games Chris Paul played (55 win pace). Gotta pay attention to the details Wammy ;)

He's not required to wear Clipper gear?
