Well, at least my draft board turned into a nice game of paper toss.

I am going to take a guy in a season in which he averaged 22.2 points, 10.1 assists, 2.1 steals, made the All-Star game, finished 7th in MVP voting, and was overall a great player, one that I think will nicely fight with the other superstars on my team. I choose Kevin Johnson.

With the 69th pick in the 90s & 00s Fantasy Draft, ChicagoSportsFan21 selects...

Spoiler:
Charles Oakley-PF-New York Knicks

Image

Seeing all these great PFs on offense, I need a true enforcer who will be ready take on the task and who better than Oakley. Oakley is ELITE on defense specifically rebounding. With Zo protecting the rim and having a block party, Oakley's main focus will be rebounding and second chance opportunities for Wade/T-Mac. And you can't leave Oakley hanging alone offensively, he will hurt you with his mid-range. Low FGA was an added bonus too. Good luck scoring inside.

Chris Webber

I think he and Ewing would be great together.

Tyson Chandler.

I always find it interesting that all of Chandler's credentials came in the 2010s, when IMO his individual peak actually came a bit before that. In 2008 he lead the league in rebounding rate and was a very strong defensive presence.

We really don't need anymore scoring on this team with our picks 1-4 cementing an elite offense.

On my phone so no pick. Im gonna play ness style and just say screw it, who rations fga? Who needs a bench? Who needs quality role players? Who needs defense. Well just blow everyone out of the water. Give me:

Peja Stojakovic.

Well I was going to take Peja but guess plan B that actually allows me to save some FGAs.

Give me Raja Bell

JR still needs a point guard so might as well get this over with now...

Image

Tony Parker.

Someone to use all those moving screens from KG. Really really good at getting to the basket, perfect for a team with shooters at every position. Oh, and he was a Finals MVP, that's an added incentive

Give me Anthony Mason and Jason Collins, can someone let square know it's his turn

Anthony Mason
Image
love that pick, low on fga but very versatile defender that could guard from sg all the way to some of the elite centers

Jason Collins
Image

At first glance he looks like a scrub but when you start to look at his impact on his team you see that he is fantastic player

here is a link that shows the huge impact he had on his teams and this was not some fluke season he did for several seasons

http://www.82games.com/04NJN21D.HTM

Sports Illustrated ran a piece on Dan Rosenbaum and Dean Oliver's methods in their 2005-06 NBA preview, and they highlighted Collins as one the "hidden gems" revealed by Dan's adjusted plus-minus system:

"According to Rosenbaum's calculations, Collins is not a stiff at all but one of the NBA's premier defensive centers... Over the last three seasons the Nets have been remarkably more effective at the defensive end with Collins in the lineup; they foul less, allow fewer free throws, rebound better, and allow fewer points. 'He's very consistent and consistently very good,' says Rosenbaum, 'meaning he's either the luckiest center alive and [opposing] teams just fall apart when he's on the court, or he's doing something.'"
