UFC 208: The Totally Legit Belt

Post#1 » by Jasen777 » Sat Jan 7, 2017 5:28 am

Feb. 11th - Brooklyn

Holly Holm vs. Germaine de Randamie
Jacare Souza vs. Tim Boetsch
Travis Browne vs. Derrick Lewis
Glover Teixeira vs. Jared Cannonier
Dustin Poirier vs. Jim Miller
Ryan LaFlare vs. Roan Carneiro
Paul Felder vs. Gilbert Burns
Nik Lentz vs. Islam Makhachev
Ian McCall vs. Neil Seery
George Sullivan vs. Randy Brown
Marcin Tybura vs. Luis Henrique
Wilson Reis vs. Ulka Sasaki
Phillipe Nover vs. Rick Glenn

The UFC - where the #3 (really?) contender vs. the #10 contender can fight for the belt in the weight class above them (which exists I guess).

Browne vs. the Black Beast could be fun. And maybe Uncle Creepy will actually get to fight.

I definitely did not realize that was the main event. Good lord.

The undercard is not exactly star studded, but I think there are some decent fights.

Around FN level on paper though.

I don't understand the objection to the belt. They're skipping a tourney but just about any inaugural title fight is going to be unconvincing. You necessarily have no linearity. It's cool.

Boetsch walkoff KO uppercut rd 2. Pajama party techniques won't help fend off that boxing.
Hi love, bye love, I will miss my love.

Another brutal card not worthy of being on PPV. Like the Toronto show there could end up being multiple great fights but that's not the point.

Give him 2-3 artificial stand-ups and he would have been right back in that fight.

But seriously, not sure the risk is worth the
reward for Jacare in that fight.

In Jacare's defense, he hasn't fought since May and holding out for a championship fight would have caused him to wait out over a year. Romero is next in line for a shot yet that fight hasn't even been booked yet against Bisping. These guys still have to make a living.

A woman's FW championship bout without Cyborg seems like a sham, though in the UFC's defense they finally accommodate her only for her to fail a test.

Bisping is trying to get a fight against Woodley.

Anything to keep the belt for those guys  Woodley so salty about his fight with Thompson. It was declared a draw.. you HAVE to give the man a rematch. Catch-weight at 180 is just preposterous.

Woodley looks like the bigger of the two also

I hope this turns into one of those Brazil cards which looks boring/terrible on paper but surprisingly delivers exciting fights with a ton of finishes.

Redemption card for most of the fighters coming off a loss: Holm, Browne, Glover, Poirer.

Listening to Ariel's opening soliloquy from the mmahour now. He said Dana came to the presser after this weekend's fox card and put an end to the talk that all these wmma fighters were going to be jumping around divisions all the time. Ariel said he stopped just short of saying that he regretted making this fight/belt but that was the impression he was giving. Ariel was openly speculating how long this division would last.

They need a 125 division far more, which is a shame because this is going to make Dana far more hesitant to add a new division for the Women anytime soon.

They do really need 125, so those women don't have to force themselves up or down. 145 only made sense with Cyborg.
