Re: NBA 2017 Draft Prospects Thread
Lauri had a career night against Arizona state last night. 30/8 on 12/18 shooting and 4/7 from 3. I'd trade Lyles for him in an instant.

Lauri looks like he could be something special.

I've been on the record saying he has a more polished offensive game than Porzingis had coming into the league.

Watching Luka Doncic in the Euroleague. What a treat! WOW! I haven't seen a 17 year old ball like that in the pros since Ricky Rubio. He's at 10/11/8 in 25 minutes of play.(3/5 fg, 1/3 3p, 3/4 ft_

Might go and see Lonzo play in person tomorrow. There's been some talk about him not being much of a creator off the dribble. I'm interested to see how he does.

He's not as quick off the dribble as you might want from your PG. He doesn't get to the rim much at all. You should go see him though. He seems like a very good player. He's transformed the way UCLA plays singlehandedly. They are college basketball's GSW. They run and gun, they spread the floor and bomb from 3, even run to the 3p in transition. Also would love to hear what you think about TJ Leaf.

All I know about TJ Leaf is that he's going to wrecked by Kuzma tomorrow

Going to preface this by saying I did something strange and actually enjoyed a basketball game so I wasn't watching that closely.
TJ Leaf - First thing that comes to mind, this guy knows how to play. Scored in multiple different ways. Faceup drive, face up jumper, post hook, spot up three ect. He didn't have a ton of baskets but each one seemed to come in a different manner. His game is definitely NBA ready, but his body is not. He's very thin! Seemed to be quick on his feet but I think he'll get pushed around in the NBA. I think he'll be able to score at the next level but I fear that some team will pigeonhole him into to being just a spot up guy.
Lonzo Ball - Incredibly talented and unique. I understand the concerns that are coming up, but this guy's IQ and vision is off the charts. Defensively he is a menace. UCLA plays a zone and he took away half the court like a great safety would in the NFL. Any time we tried to throw a pass on his side he either stole it or got a deflection. His talent is in the open floor where he is incredibly dynamic. Whether his team forces a make or miss, once he gets the ball he beats defenders down the court. Once he gets int the paint he finds the open man every time. However, he didn't showcase any ability to break guys down in the half court or finish through traffic. If he manages to get a step on his defender he's always going to pass, which is fine because his vision is unbelievable. He didn't get many PnR opportunities, but I think he will have to rely on screens to get inside and break down the defense in half court offense.
Aaron Holiday - He's an NBA player. Not very big, but like all of UCLA's players he simply knows how to play. Tough defender, looked like he had long arms despite being short...Was impossible to guard with his quick handle and pull up jumper...He was the closer for UCLA. I don't know what the plus minus was, but it seemed like UCLA was in a little bit of disarray whenever he wasn't in the game. Had more NBA style opportunities than Ball.

Re: NBA 2017 Draft Prospects Thread
I love what I saw from Leaf. I could see him being even better than Ryan Anderson.
Ball today was the most unselfish player that I think I have ever seen. He was unselfish to a fault in my opinion and unfortunately the utes didn't learn from it and kept collapsing and freeing up shooters.
Holiday was really impressive. He probably won't enter this draft but if he does I would have no problem if we took him with the warriors pick.

Re: NBA 2017 Draft Prospects Thread
Seems like a good kid with good head on his shoulders. Oh... and he's a beast on the floor! It would be a coup d'etat if we manage to get him with either of our picks IMO. I kinda want him to slow down a bit, 'cause he's trending more towards the lottery than towards the second round right now.

Re: NBA 2017 Draft Prospects Thread
In case you guys think I'm going crazy with my defense of Favors - I'd trade Favors for the pick that lands us Isaac:
Smooth shooting stroke, some nice floor game... very smart. Plays the game right, seems to make the right decisions most of the time, good passer. High potential on both ends.
Anybody else see a little bit of Westbrook in the way De'Aaron Fox attacks the basket?

Re: NBA 2017 Draft Prospects Thread
Not sure how many of you have seen Tyler Lydon play, but he's someone that's projected to go around the 20th pick or lower and is a killer shooter who can play PF at 6'10".
Here's his DraftExpress profile:
http://www.draftexpress.com/profile/Tyler-Lydon-71672/
He's averaging 13.7 points while shooting 50% (on 9.5 attempts) from the field, 43.5% from 3 (with 3.6 attempts per game), 79.4% from the line (3.3 attempts per game), 7.6 rebounds, 1.7 assists, a steal, a block and only 1.5 TO's and 2.2 fouls.
He's 6'10" w/6'11" wingspan and is 20 years old. Silky smooth shot that will certainly transfer over to the NBA game. He struggles to play off the dribble, isn't very strong at 205 pounds, average athlete and struggles to defend in one on one situations. However, he's an elite level shooter at the 4 spot that can move fluidly that plays well in the pick and roll. He might be an interesting guy to look at near the end of the 1st round if he's still there as a backup 4 who can come in and help stretch the floor.
Not a fancy name or pick, but could be a solid one.
And I'm not sure if I'm sold on Isaac like you are, Stiches. He's so raw right now. I would rather gamble on a guy like Giles if he continues to drop down the boards just because he at least has the physical tools to be impactful in the paint.
I'm with you on Fox though. That kid is a baller. I think I like him more than Lonzo Ball tbh.
I'm also pretty intrigued by Thomas Bryant from Indiana. Big that is really lengthy and has a fantastic motor. Another pick that wouldn't flashy, but might be a solid backup C in the league with how hard he plays. Biggest concern is that he's got a small/weak base and isn't a great leaper. His body reminds me of Withey, actually.

The smoothness of Isaac's game is one of those things that jumps out at you. He makes it look easy which can be a good and bad thing because with some players the game can be so easy that they don't put in the extra work to reach their potential.

Nbadraft.net has us taking Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk. Just from a physical standpoint/scouting report he is intriguing. A 6'8 SG SG who handles the ball extremely well. I am all for finding more ballhandling wings.
Any of you seen him in action? Any thoughts on him?

Svi has been playing much better this year. I wouldn't mind taking him with 30 pick or in the second. Also... just checked their mock draft... OG Anunoby falling to 35... yeah... That's NOT gonna happen.
They have some weird rankings right now. Ball over Fultz... Yikes.

Also be curious to hear thoughts on PJ Dozier they have us pegged taking with the first pick this year. A 6'6 PG. Considering Dantes, and the Jazz struggles in general with PG play in recent years it probably makes sense to get another PG.

Re: NBA 2017 Draft Prospects Thread
Damn... Jonathan Isaac is blossoming into an impact player. He singlehandedly won the game on both ends for Florida state vs no. 15 ranked Notre Dame. Finished with 23/10/1 with 1 steal and 7 blocks... oh, and that's in 25 minutes. I'm gonna post the highlights when it comes out. The kid is gaining steam, I wouldn't be surprised if he's drafted top 5... or even top 3.
