Greg Cosell on KNBR on Shanahan

Post#1 » by generaldreedle » Wed Jan 18, 2017 4:21 pm

Here are his points about Shanahan after watching the film.

1. Run oriented, mainly runs the outside zone and Carlos Hyde fits perfectly with that.
2. The pass is tied to the run game.
3. The passing route combos are 2&3 man concepts to break down the coverage.
4. The run pass fusion is among the best in the league.
5. They could run the Atlanta offense with Kirk Cousins at the helm ( he is only saying that Cousins is a professional quarterback, not that he's as good as Ryan).

I don't see Cousins getting away from Washington. Someone reported they were ok tagging him again if no long term deal is reached.

I could see us signing Tony Romo after he gets released by the Cowboys; and still end up drafting a QB with our first round pick (Trubisky), and have him sit and learn behind Romo for at least one year.

Signing Romo would be a mistake. 1. I don't like him lol.... 2. Romo signing should be done with a team thats' close to making to the playoffs.

I'm ready to call ourselves playoff contenders yet so no need for both Romo and the 49ers to have a gig together IMO.

Why would Romo want to sign with us? I'm pretty sure we will suck next year.

I agree, our situation is not so appealing. I mean if Rivers would consider us, why not Romo? The ideal landing spot for Romo would be the Houston Texans. But they have a lot of money already invested in Osweiler, but Romo already has a fan base in Texas and seems to enjoy life out there. He may want to give Houston a major discount? But I just don't see another team that has a better situation than us right now despite how suck we may appear on the surface.
