Yea, I was referring to the Devos lady. She looked like a deer in headlights. Al Franken made her look like a buffoon.

Interesting - I thought she did the right thing in essentially not getting tangled up with Franken in order to get confirmed. From listening to the entirety I thought it came across partisan gotcha "stuff".

From what I heard (listening - I didn't watch), the Ds cast her as unqualified.

Rs portrayed a change agent.

From my view DeVos portrayed our current education model as outdated. From my perspective (especially after reading "Failure"), she was pretty accurate.

I am not a Trump supporter, but I hope Devos gets confirmed and changes the Department of Education (or gets rid of it) and is willing to cut many of the failing initiatives.

Americans Assess Progress Under Obama
by Michael Smith and Frank Newport

• Americans split on whether healthcare situation improved or worsened
• Race relations perceived as faltering
• More say economy gained rather than lost ground

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Asked about the state of the nation over the past eight years, Americans say the U.S. gained ground in four of 19 policy domains, and they say it lost ground on 14 and held steady on one. More Americans see progress than decline on the situation for gays and lesbians, energy, climate change and the economy. They see the biggest setbacks on the federal debt, crime, the gap between the rich and the poor, and race relations. They are divided on whether the nation has made progress or lost ground on healthcare………

President Donald Trump referred to African countries, Haiti and El Salvador as "shithole" nations during a meeting Thursday and asked why the U.S. can't have more immigrants from Norway.

Isn't that essentially the reverse of Trump's numbers?

Just two more nights in the White House for Obama......as much as Trump is despised he'll probably turn the tide referenced below by mere existence.

CNN polls are great, always so accurate and unbiased. Somehow they always have 13-15% swings depending on their chosen narrative.

Pretty much EVERY poll has Obama with sky high approval ratings..

President Donald Trump referred to African countries, Haiti and El Salvador as "shithole" nations during a meeting Thursday and asked why the U.S. can't have more immigrants from Norway.

It's accurate. Obama is well liked by a majority of this country - he comported himself well during his two terms.

Regardless if his policies were well liked - and I think many weren't - the man was well liked and a historic figure.

But how do we know whether or not a significant number who approve of his performance do so because he is decimating the down-ballot Democratic Party and strengthening the Republicans. just kidding

True. Obama is a likeable, high character guy.

If he had any skeletons in his closet they surely would have come out after 8 years as President.

Obama has nothing to do with the Dems losing seats. The Dems, in general, are a passive, money-hungry bunch of bureaucrats who only care about lining their pockets. Obama is the exception to the rule, and that's why he's popular.

Even biased Fox News polls has him at 54%.

Dems lose seats because their voting base doesn't consist of old, white, retired, politically-engaged people with literally nothing to do with their lives but show up and vote.

Having a low-flexibility job and a family makes it harder for folks to show up on a Tuesday.

It's funny how the people who side with Wikileaks over the IC community and side with Trump's tweets over CNN are the ones who show up to vote in droves.

You'd think people who strongly distrust the establishment wouldn't bother wasting their time voting when everything is rigged.
