Adams not a true defender? Wow...seen it all.
Googled Steven Adams

Steven Adams has arrived.
He still doesn't defend the rim as well as some of his peers at the center position, and you'll rarely find him spacing the floor for the rest of the Oklahoma City Thunder. But the young big man has learned how to finish on the interior, whether he's slamming home finishes from a Russell Westbrook feed or creating shots with his back to the basket.
Also, there's this:

You need to understand how to decipher what people are saying..."not as good as defending the rim as SOME of his peers." That means there's a few who are better...that's all. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to understand this.
According to that graph, he's a better defender than Marc Gasol, Anthony Davis, Towns, Bogut, Cousins, Ibaka, Biyombo, etc...hardly a knock.
The dude is a very good defender and an anchor on defense...it's not debateable..you saying he's not is laughable 4real...his DRPM (defensive real plus/minus) is 21st in the league out of all players.
Again, what Adams does more than anything is physicality and hustle defensively. Maybe I was hyperbolizing because you over sold him. Defensively he's a tier or two below Jordan/Whiteside
