I don't follow college ball so I've got a question: Is there any big man who is or could start rising up into the #1 pick conversation? The lack of (apparent) premium big men in this draft is kind of depressing me.

Harry Giles if he shows he can stay healthy and starts producing more as the year goes on

Yeah, that makes sense. No one else then?

Could 14 have been high? Sure but he would playing against backup Centers and actually having a PG? He will be productive.

I think Tatum could end up being a 4, he looks close to 6'10 now

6-11 Jonathan Isaac from Florida State may turn out to be more of a Middle Class KG rather than a Middle Class Durant...
He has to be zooming up the Draft Charts with performances like 23 - 10 - 7 blocks against ND. He seems a lock for a
Top 7 pick in the Draft and I have a feeling Ainge is quite enamored with him... Ball and Isaac are the two Unicorns
in this Draft.

I don't see an impact big. We don't need skinny and athletic. We need big, strong and athletic. Maybe Zizic is our guy. I would still got BPA and take a guard if we are one or two.

good call on KG comps. I don't know why the KD comps were flying around. He'd be a great pick for us. Not sure about #1 though but if we traded down sure. He's really been performing much better lately. He was not deserving of the hype early on. We could really use a big like him next to Horford. He is a plug and play rebounder, shot blocker, energy and burgeoning offensive game PF. He's something completely different than what we have and a major upgrade.

You don't draft for need in the top 5.

Zeller to Houston
Bogut and Onuaku to Boston
KJ McDaniels and Tyler Ennis to Dallas
Boston gets its defensive big man, Houston gets a back up big who fits well in the pick and roll game and can play fast, Dallas gets a couple marginal young players and saves $3M bucks.

Agreed. And if they are lucky enough to be top 5 in 2018, it will come to you.
On the trade front, I do wonder how they handle Zeller, or more specifically, the value of his contract.
And, I flew this idea up the flagpole in the Olynyk thread, but, I'd try to pursue an avenue where they trade him, probably in a 3 team type deal, and get back Portis from Chicago and a 1st, likely from the 3rd team. Will look around for hypothetical proposals later.

Seconded! Also, the Cs need impact players period, not just a big man.
The new NBA is all about perimeter offense, which to me means they'd be crazy to pass on guys like Ball or especially Fultz.

Yeah larger Tatum, Jonathan Isaac.. I think if we're really picking top 3 and getting one of the guards or wings, it could be viable (depending on who we still have on the roster) to trade for a second lotto pick. Isaac, right now, is the guy I'd target. Length, upside.
But we're going to have a lot of potential moves on the board if we're top 3. The point guards look great, other teams may want to trade in, Tatum and Jackson would both fit here.

Rudy Gay tore his Achilles - this may push some teams into making trades, but he was a major factor in lubricating the trade market.

Also, as long as we have to put everything on the table - I feel like Crowder and Amir would be very enticing to Thibodeau in Minnesota, to the point they might get you Lavine, the MIN 17, and Rubio to a third team. Crowder for Lavine was Windhorst's idea, and I know this could seem like an overpay by Minnesota, but I have a hunch they would love Amir to take over KG's role, as a savvy defensive veteran who can mentor Towns.

Re: Trade Thread 2017: Not Once, Not twice, But Thrice!
We just lost to the Knicks. Trade everybody!! I kid. Upgrade the Swede or Amir and I'm good. Where can we get a mobile big who can score 20 ppg, pass, be physical, gobble up boards, protect the rim, and shoot threes? Is that too much to ask?!!
Edit: Oh, and it can't be a nutjob like Boogie.

Nah. Willie's value is lowest it's ever been. Crowder's is highest. Sacramento, with Mclemore a RFA and finally becoming the bust he's been nurtured into being, Gay injured, and their pick tied to the Sixers, has nothing I'd trade Jae for, other than Demarcus Cousins.

WCS is a major question mark and project, but I'd send Rozier to the Kings for him, I think, and a future 1st. It's a gamble we can probably afford to take.
