If we don't hit on this pick, the choice will be made for us

Breh we're damn near 20 games under .500 and we're barely in 2017

We'd have to be pretty good to be top 3 in injuries sans Bosh and still make our mark, which we wouldn't be. Just good enough to make the playoffs

Stay away from Blake Griffin? What? If you have the cap space and he's interested, YOU SIGN BLAKE GRIFFIN.
Don't be daft.
Look at his injury history. Wade looks like Lebron compared to him. Bad fit with Hassan and Winslow.
Blake Griffin, an athletic power forward with a developing midrange jump shot who's spent his entire career playing next to DeAndre Jordan, an athletic shotblocker and interior defensive presence, is a bad fit with Hassan Whiteside and Justise Winslow? I didn't know Dwyane Wade, who's played less than 70 games in a season a full six out of the fourteen seasons he's played, looks like LeBron compared to Blake Griffin, who's only done it twice in seven seasons he's played.
I left out the 66-game season for obvious reasons, but it should be noted that Wade still found a way to miss 17 games that year. Blake started and played all 66.
I'm not sure injury history is where you want to go when comparing the two players.
Wade has missed 180 games in 13.5 seasons, Griffin has missed 163 in 8.5 seasons. My comparison was bad, but still Griffin injury prone as phuck
power forward with a developing midrange jump shot
bad 3 point shooter, bad 2 point jump shooter. Yeah, I think he's a pretty bad fit

Hinkie did the right thing, losing basketball might not be fun for fans but drafting well over a long period can produce good results. I'd rather see **** show and then go to championship contention rather than being garbage to meh. Of course clearing cap space and signing superstars works too but the market really doesn't have the lebrons and westbrooks of the league available

draft, develop, try to win. Dont sellout investing in old injured prospects. IF we lose and get lottery again so be it not we dont tank on purpose.

Always compete.
Looking years into the future and hoping things go well is just a losing mentality.

Re: Compete or Draft For 2018?
People who want our team to keep tanking for the sake of filling the roster with young talented but inexperienced players should just watch college ball or the NBADL. I want to win and I hope Riley turns this thing around quickly. I'll take the punches for this season but with that cap space and high draft pick, I want to develop a winner. This season has not been fun AT ALL. No players who the fans could identify with or follow, a bunch of 1 year rentals and only 11 wins to show for our support. If that is your idea of fun, again the NBADL has free games on YouTube. Let's hit the ball out of the park this draft and wisely use our cap space. We'll tweak it along the way but no more losing.

Re: Compete or Draft For 2018?
This is a question from a Heat fan to Ira Winderman:
Q: It is very likely the 2017-18 Heat will look very similar to what we're seeing now, and we'll just have to hope some of our young guys blossom into stars. -- Kevin, Pa.
A: Actually, there is one aspect that is different: the Heat's 2018 first-round pick is only protected through the first seven selections, so there won't be nearly the same level of draft certainly a year from now. It is among the reasons the Heat may attempt to fast-track things. The ultimate failure next season would be to wind up with the No.8 pick, have to send that to the Suns, and then wind up nowhere in the standings and with nothing from the draft. Based on the Heat's draft position going forward, an argument could be made that if the Heat's turnaround is not rapid, it might not be at all.

LiAngelo Ball is a high-school sophomore, the brother of LaMelo and Lonzo:
We should just tank for ten years and get all the good young talent, who will no doubt want to stay with a tanking team. Then we will achieve tanking greatness.

I'd tank. No game changing FAs are coming to MIA this summer. Trade Dragic and Whiteside this summer. Winslow gets a new PG (Ball/Smith/Fultz) in this year's draft and a PF/C in next year's draft.
