Call me crazy but I think IW would be better off playing SG next to CL as PG until Lin returns. I LOVE IW and feel he's way ahead of schedule but he REALLY needs to work on those turnovers... biggest weakness of his game imo.

Whitehead did a nice job defensively against 76ers.
All those dumb turnovers though....

Most NBA stats aren't credible. At most times the people who interprets those data are biased, or the data themselves are flawed. Basketball is just too complicated with so many uncontrollable variables.

You're definitely not crazy

Great job on Marks for turning the 55th pick into a long term prospect.

I'd like to see Whitehead also get some time at 2 guard.

When Bogs is traded and Lin is back.
Interesting if Bogs is traded, all our guards would be combo guard or can play both positions:
Foye: 2 guard who kinda failed as a pg
Lin: PG but was forced to play SG for a long time so can play that
iHead + Diwidi: SG but is trying to learn to play PG
LVJ: SG and should be able to play PG
Thanks for the honesty.MorbidHEAT wrote:My dislike for Lin started during Linsanity. It was absurd. It's probably irrational dislike at this point, but man he gets on my nerves. He's been tearing us up though.

I think that was Marks' plan from the door. Stack the team with combo guards.

BK Grit - The Isaiah Whitehead Thread
I kept telling folks he's our version of Marcus Smart. He's going to be making highlight plays, defensive plays but won't be putting up great numbers to do it. He's got a chance to definitely develop into a spot up shooter as well.

IW + LV + RHJ are already making it tough for opponents & disrupting passing lanes. Whitehead is going to be a problem once he gets his offense together

How I see the youngins:
IW= More athletic CJ McCollum type player offensively plus good defense. A competitor that embodies #BrooklynGrit. Not a pure PG at all. All around scorer. Starter at SG talent.
RHJ= Draymond Green lite with some Gerald Wallace type role. Does a bit of everything but #1 skill = Defense. Good role player at the 3/4 talent. Could be a starter in the right system.
CL= KD/J-Crawford type game offensively with good defense also. Star talent.

Plenty opportunities for Whitrhead to find his offensive rhythm. I have confidence in him.

Ha, Vasquez as well.
I guess Yogi can't be a combo guard......

Re: The Isaiah Whitehead Official Thread
Getting some love in Zach Lowe's latest column (so did RHJ and LeVert a few weeks ago):
http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/18655198/zach-lowe-10-things-like-featuring-miami-heat-nba
11. The craft of Isaiah Whitehead
Whitehead is shooting only 38 percent, and he lost his starting job to Spencer Dinwiddie. There is a pretty low and hard ceiling on point guards who can't shoot.
But I can't help it. This guy has a little something -- a feel for how to keep his dribble alive, and coax defenders off-balance with hesitation moves, shoulder fakes, and spins:
He's big -- 6-4, with a 6-9 wingspan -- and powerful enough to shoulder-check opposing point guards underneath the rim and flip the ball in.
The Nets signed Whitehead to a four-year, partially guaranteed deal for just above the league's minimum, so they have time to watch his development. He's worth a longer look.

I'm surprised no one has made the Lance Stephenson comparison?

he's the only kid out of the 4 young guys that really doesn't need to worry about the gym all that much.
he doesn't really remind me of Lance. Lance was better to me coming into the league honestly.
