Will Andre Drummond ever make another all-star team?

Post#1 » by Han Solo » Sat Jan 21, 2017 10:30 pm

Valid question. My answer to it is yes, still 23 years old. When he grows up a bit, he should figure what people this year are seeing. I think he'll make around 5 all-star games in his career. What do you think?

Probably he puts up great stats, the real question is does he deserve it.

If he really wanted to I think he could make the all star team for the next 6-7 seasons consecutively barring injury. There is a vast, vast difference between Drummond when he's locked in and when he's just going through the motions. I know he's not the most skilled big by any means, but as physically gifted as he is he can be flat out dominant when motivated.

I remember when I watched this game I was so hopeful Dre was heading down the road to superstardom. The Sixers sucked obviously but his activity and aggression were on point, and if he plays like that we are an entirely different team. So if the question is will he ever make another all star team, I'd say yes. Because at some point when you're losing and getting no individual accolades people forget about you, and Dre definitely cares about his popularity as a player.

Probably not of Embiid stays healthy and in Philly. Also if the league still trends toward small ball, there might only be two centers chosen and an extra PF type instead.

Porzingis end up a center? Myles Turner being the another long term competition.

he might not be a perennial all star but i'd bet on him making another one.

Embiid will get the nod over him almost every year if they're only looking to take one more center to the all-star for the East.

That and Philly has a far bigger market.

He may make another one. He probably has another 10-12 years in the league, barring injury.

I'd wait to see if Embiid can stay healthy over a season before making such a statement.

It's really up to Drummond. Other centers are more skilled but now of the wreck the kind of havoc Drummond does when he's high energy engaged.

Maturity (too big to keep pouting), increased basketball (cut down on the really stupid gambling), and consistent energy will determine Dre's trajectory.

Hell yes. Especially when we should be in the running for the 1-3 seeds for years to come imo

He's almost certainly going to be in a few more... When you look at the makeup of our team, as long as we're winning, its likely going to be him with Tobias as a 2nd potential guy and RJ as the long shot... Rarely are guys that defend like KCP given the nod unless they also score 20+ a night.... And its all about us winning for him to get recognition.

It's unlikely that he will ever mean the most to our team as far as wins and losses but statistically his floor is 12 and 12 and his ceiling is about 16 and 15 so he'll get at least a few more.

If he can stay healthy I'm going with yes. His start to this season has been largely solid, but not inspiring. I don't have the impression that the fame and fortune are the only things he cares about in basketball. The fact that he gets up for the big match ups says something. He just needs to grow in professionalism. I don't have much faith in guessing ceilings. What would you have estimated Whiteside's ceiling to have been at 23? (Kirsten, you were right on that one.)

My guess is no. All-Star games do not have many bigs anymore, and the East has Embiid, Porzingis, Turner all of whom should be far superior players. Embiid and Porzingis are way flashier too. That's assuming that no young talented bigs get picked up in the draft... And no talented bigs come over from the Western Conference...

So yeah, it's not impossible, but a little bit improbable barring a significant improvement in a lot of areas.

Hard to say Drummond is still young and capable of big stats when not so lazy. It's really up to him and how serious he takes it.

Depends on the team. If we were in the playoffs today he would make it this year. His stats and impact are good enough.i have no doubt he'll make5+ more if healthy.

If we were a perennial 2nd round playoff team then he'd get a reserve spot

Otherwise he's at best the 2nd best player on a first round loser every year and those guys don't get ASGs

Ah, the Josh Smith special. Smith had the exact same problem of not being THAT good enough to make a all-star spot.
