the Red Sox are interested in acquiring SF infielder Omar Vizquel.

Not sure what I think of this. He's like 45 fuggity years old.

What possible role would he serve? He'd be the backup-backup infielder.

Got to agree with you BG, I don't see how he fits.

He would hit for a higher average than Lugo....and he still plays a gold glove short. He'd be an upgrade in my opinion.

I'd rather just see if Lugo gets out of his funk, which he seems to be in the process of doing.

Omar Vizquel doesn't hit for a higher average than Lugo. And he has less power, he's slower, he's an inferior defender. There is zero upside and infinite downside.

Since Julio Lugo came back from those two pinch-running days at the end of June/beginning of July, he has hit .378/.425/.486 in 40 PA. He is out of his slump.

You can only go up when just about a month ago you were hitting .198 and your OPS just cracked .500.

AND ROFLMAO at Lugo being a better defender than Vizquel.

Yeah. He has a 900+ OPS in his last 40 PA.

Vizquel is way past his prime and he isn't as good defensively as he once was. I guess they're about equal defensively.

I would have to agree with you as well BG. I am sure the guy "can" play ball, but what are we lookin for him to pull off? I can't say he's going to be in too many highlight reels from here on out... just going out on a limb.
