Rookie ranks over the last five games:
- 6th in scoring
- 7th in FG%
- 3rd in assists
- 5th in steals
- 7th in Free Throw Attempts
this is good, its promising. but its not really anything special. over a 5 game span he is is top 5 among rookies in 1 category. is that really all that impressive?
basically, in a super small sample (5 games) he is in the top 15 percentile among another small sample (rookies, 60-70 active currently).
i mean i can see rookie of the month, top 5 in all categories for 10 games even...He's blowing by elite defenders and racked up 12 assists in the last two games. He's way ahead of schedule and he's showing he is the real deal.
He's statistically showing he's got the potential to be an efficient scorer. His current TS% is upping to a near 59 TS%. The other rookies with similar TS% are Embiid, Hernangomez, Murray.
Dejounte Murray and LeVert are the only efficient rookies guards out right now.
12 assists in 2 game is nice, although again a small sample, and one tough to go on given in one of the games our opponent allowed 140+ points.
i think he will be a good player. maybe a good starter. but this "two way all-star" and "very special player" and "better then anyone outside of ingram/simmons" talk is really going overboard
You're welcome to have tempered expectations, but I don't think anyone who has seen him play is going overboard if they're talking about his possible potential, his iq is off the charts and is showing that he can score a variety of ways and is always looking to make the correct basketball play. He's showing exactly why people were saying he had lottery level talent.
It's cause for optimism. What should temper expectations is not his skills but his ability to stay healthy based off of his medical history, but thats about it.
It's not saying much, but when he already looks like he's the best player on the floor for our team at this age, it gives this team a lot of hope going forward once he matures and we add more talent with him.
