What ever will we do without Brian Schmitz's disparaging articles and sarcastic praise?

I wish they would hire Denton but it'll end up being that Robbins just does everything magic.

Now if they could get rid of Bianchi. The asinine articles he writes are a lot worse than Schmitz

Funny to listen 'at' don't you mean? (As in, this guy is an idiot).

Honestly whenever someone retires, I try to find something nice to say about them. Unfortunately Schmitz has been mailing it in for years - crap articles with little to no insight, all the while calling himself 'Magic Insider.'

The man couldn't break a sweat nevermind break news. So, sorry Brian, I think local Magic coverage will be better off without you.

Brian Schmitz has had such a long career. He was actually roommates with my high school teacher way back in the day.

No matter if you agreed with him or not, he covered this team when we did not have many sources of media and did a great job of it.

Everyone should thank him for all of the years of articles.

Why should everyone thank him? He wasn't volunteering, he was paid to cover the team and often slandered the team any chance he got.

Sure looks great to players when their own media talks negatively about their team.

Now he can enjoy retirement and spend quality years of grumping against the Magic on the sidelines, just not on a newspaper.
Good deal for everyone!

I've read his articles as long as I've known how to read. Even as a young child, I couldn't stand his clear bias and I always felt he didn't really care for the Magic much, if at all. I hope he enjoys his retirement, though.

I agree. 25+ years of covering the Magic is a big deal, but he often came across as a guy paid to cover an assignment, rather than someone passionate about the subject matter. If you were an actual fan of the team, it made him less interesting to read.

At least he wasn't Bianchi, or Jemele Hill - I'll give him that. All in all, he was solid, IMO.
