Was interested in comparing Julio Jones to who I consider the 4 best WRs of all time (Rice, Moss, Owens, Fitzgerald) through their first 6 seasons. Julio had one bad year in 2013, when he only played 5 games, but he's been outstanding in the 3 years since, and he had a really strong rookie year, and was a Pro-Bowler by year 2 (2012). As a result of his injury-plagued 2013 season though, he's played a lot less games than the others through 6 seasons.
So you can make the case that he's not as good overall...however, let's compare them on a per game basis.
Through 6 seasons (per game):
Rice: 4.8 catches for 85.5 yards and 0.9 TDs
Moss: 5.5 catches for 87.2 yards and 0.8 TDs
Owens: 4.5 catches for 67.1 yards and 0.6 TDs
Fitzgerald: 5.7 catches for 76.8 yards and 0.6 TDs
Jones: 6.3 catches for 96.3 yards and 0.5 TDs
Essentially, Julio catches more passes and goes for more yards than any of those other guys, although he doesn't find the end zone as much. He's also been sidetracked by injury more than they have (he basically has about 5 seasons worth of games through his first 6 seasons).
But damn, this dude is amazing. He'll be in the conversation for GOAT WR by the time he's done imo.

Absolutely agreed. He is one of the greatest WRs that I've ever witnessed.
And to think some people were trying to tell me OBJ is better before the season...smh

Legit 4.35 runner. Leaps of a young Michael Jordan. Hands of the Hulk. He's a walking NFL monster, every madden create a receiver with maxed out stats is basically a wannabe Julio Jones. I love Antonio Brown, but he's just not big enough.

Re: Julio Jones historically
Antonio Brown is a better route runner than Julio, but that's about it. Julio will go down as arguably the most complete wide receiver to ever play the game (assuming that he has the same longevity as some of the other greats)...no one comes close in terms of size, speed, physicality, and ability to catch in traffic.

Re: Julio Jones historically
Julio is basically a mentally stable Terrell Owens, which is a scary combination.
And also, it has been awhile since i last saw TO play, but it feels like Julio plays little faster than Terrell on the field. But both guys have that rough physicality about them in their game, and both guys have that "I'm going to go jump up and get what ever comes my way" type of mentality

Been saying since the 2012 NFC Championship game against my 49ers to numerous friends that Julio was the best WR in the game. Its very clear now & glad people are finally giving this dude the respect he deserves.

Well I think after he got injured in 2013, and Calvin still being at the top his game, people were hesitant to crown Julio. You also had Green and Dez doing big things.

Re: Julio Jones historically
Julio Jones is no doubt, one of the top three receivers, in the game today. What I like most about him, he is not a rah rah guy, he does his job and lets his play on the field speak for it self. Also he doesn't cause off the field distractions as well.

Re: Julio Jones historically
Calvin is the BEST overall reciever I've seen with my own eyes (Wasn't old enough to watch Rice with the 49ers). However, Calvin didn't play alot of years so he can't be considered one of the GREATEST WR to play game, but to me he was the Best I ever saw. I like Julio, he's amazing but he wasn't as good as Megatron. However, Julio has a chance to go down as the Top 3-5 best and greatest receivers of all time if he keeps this pace up.
