I haven't seen Caleb play. Does he play under control, or is he an energizer? If he's an energizer, then per-40 stats are probably misleading. That's like pro-rating a relief pitcher who throws 95 mph for 2-3 innings and thinking he can do it for 7-8 innings w/o losing velocity or control. It doesn't work out most of the time.
And Then There Was One: Thank Nation 2. Raps pick 23rd

He's under control. He plays like an old vet.

I don't think it would crack the top 10 in this draft. Maybe 12 and onwards.
It wouldn't be a trade I could see happening unless there's a lottery team adament on obtaining an NBA ready center.
From the Raps perspective they'd be putting 3 eggs into one basket for a player potentially better than JV and the other two picks.
Using Poeltl might be a better option if they have a guy they really want. JV is set to make 15.5 million next season.

I'd like to keep peoltl, but you're right that he's the more logical choice. Would make salaries much easier to work out as well.
Looking at the teams in the lotto, the ones I could see having use for a center prospect like Poeltl are:
Lakers(3rd) No way they trade the 3rd pick.
Dallas(4th) Likely same as Lakers.
New Orleans(9th) Might be interested in trading a 9th pick for another 9th pick at a position of need.
Portland(11th) They need a center.
New York(12th) Need a center to do the dirty work while Zingis gets the bigger offensive role.
Milwaukee(13th) Desperately need a 2 way big man.
In the case of Milwaukee or New York, who seem the most likely targets to trade up with, it would be an overpay to give them Poeltl and both picks. Maybe Poeltl straight up?

What's the point of getting excited when the Raptors will reach and draft some obscure player way out of their range or
a player that's a perfect fit or really good gets drafted right in front of them or better yet the Raps pass on him.
I have no feels anymore
Deandre Daniels wasn't a reach, Delon Wright wasn't a reach, Norman Powell wasn't a reach, Jakob Poeltl wasn't a reach, and Pascal Siakam wasn't a reach. Those are 5 out of the 6 picks the Masai regime has made. So what evidence do you have to suggest that we'd take an obscure player way out of their range other than Bruno?
- Delon Wright was a minor reach
- We traded for Powell didn't draft him ourselves
- Siakam was a reach nobody had ever heard of him or mentioned his name in this thread last year
- Chriss getting drafted in front of Poodle still hurts
- Terrence Ross was a reach
- Valanciunas over Kemba and Kawhai still bothers me
- Paul George sky rocketing after the combine and draft workouts to be drafted a few picks in front of us still hurts
Hoffa, Bargnani and Bruno still really hurt

Right? If Sac wanted Skal in the end we should of drafted Skal and trade up for Chriss

Delon wasn't a reach at all.
We traded for the 46th pick to select Norman Powell, and Milwaukee picked him for us.
Siakam wasn't a reach as I said, he was ranked as a late-first, early second round pick and he was discussed on this board. Plenty of people knew who he was and were okay with the pick as it was made.
We can't control who's picked in front of us (Chriss & George).
Terrence Ross, Jonas Valanciunas and Andrea Bargnani were picked by Bryan Colangelo, NOT Masai. With that said, we picked Ross at 9 when he was ranked around 12 therefore not a reach.
Hoffa was picked by Rob Babcock.
Therefore, Bruno still remains as Masai's only questionable pick during his reign as our GM.

Tough label for a 19 year old rookie with a sky high ceiling.
From what I've seen, he's an athletically gifted PF with scary quickness to defend guards off the pick and roll. He runs the floor taking his man to the basket from outside, rebounds and rim protects with a ridiculous vertical , and can shoot the 3 which he's slowly improved.
He's actually the ideal forward that NBA teams need.

I did. I was the only one. Said I wouldn't be surprised if Masai picked him since he looked like a "Masai-type player".

Sumner looks intriguing. Good handles, nice size for a point guard, willing passer and a good slasher. The obvious weakness is 3 point shooting, but if he develops his shot he could be a nice quality pick in the 20s.

Like two or three posters mentioned him as intriguing. But nobody had him as a first option for the 27th pick. Otherwise he wasn't really on anyone's radar on this board. He was pegged as a 2nd round pick by nearly everybody.

I responded to you saying you were the only one to mention him, not whether or not you had him ranked as your first option at 27.
