Ranking our top 5players

Post#1 » by Canadafan » Tue Jan 24, 2017 6:37 am

Hopefully this doesn't bug anyone. But ranking our top 5 guys by position.
I feel in order to win we gotta have top 15 players at each position. Especially without a true superstar. Do we have that?
Dre-although a lazy, somewhat outta shape guy in my opinion, is no doubt a top 15 center.
Reggie-last year I would have said so. This year not looking so great. Still time.
KCP - pretty darn close if not for sure
Then you have our forwards. Slot Morris or Tobias in at PF or SF and do either of them at either position rank as a top 15 talent? Maybe Tobias? Maybe.
Where do our guys rank?
We need to upgrade. Asap. Leuer is a nice piece but he's no starting PF. If we had a Lamarcus Aldridge or a Milsap type player we would dominate. It's so obvious to me that PF is our weak spot. We need to consolidate some of our talent for an upgrade in talent.

Leuer has been really good for us, would be nice if he get's his 3pt % up. Aldridge and Millsap are 31 and getting paid a **** ton. If we did have them we more than likely would be a lot better. Probably only ECF finals and then they're done cooked and in 3 years Adridge and Milsap will be old men, and Dre would be like 26, KCP like 26, Tobias like 26-27, SJ like 22-23, and Ellenson like 22-23. Sounds crazy, but patience is probably the best thing. Tying our wagon to Dre for another 2-3 years could be very heart breaking, he still should have a ton of value at 26 tho.

Our best players this year probably

KCP
Tobias
Leuer

Rj

Dre

Might be able to throw iss about where RJ is and Mook too. Ish hasn't been doing to great off the bench, not sure Mook has gotten out of that shooting slump fully yet either.

Any top 15 at their position, Dre, RJ and Tobias probably, but close. KCP might be able to get there, he was well on his way tho before the injury

We have no 5-star players. Everyone has deficiencies. That being said...

1. Harris

2. KCP
3. Leuer

Yeah, no. To win without a star, you need guys who play as a team on both ends of the floor. They don't need to win each individual matchup.

Pretty much in agreement. KCP has been our best two-way player and most impactfull overall, with Harris or best and most consistent offensively.

Surprisingly enough Leuer probably does come in 3rd. I only recall 1 or 2 people really championing that signing, but it's looking very good.

I'd probably have Ish and Mook after that. Both have been inconsistent. Ish started slow, found a groove and then had had to adjust to a new role and Mook went into a funk when Reggie returned.

I'm not sure is entirely fair to have Reggie and Dre last in terms of their impact, but in relation to expectations and what we need out of them its legit.

As for this top 15 at every position... i dont really care about that. It's about the team, not individual battles.

A real team is what we need - not a set up where our best 2 players are marginalized so we can see the Dre & RJ show

That show sucks!

Having a real PG that is willing and able to read the play better and get guys better shots... push the pace, get out and run, look for mismatches before the D gets set...

A better version of Ish is what we need or we need to trade for some shooters.

Mook, Bullock & Baynes would need to go to bring in a shooter to replace Bullock long term:

Dre 33 / Jon & Bobo 15

Jon 16 / Harris 20 / King 12

SJ 30 / Harris 10 / Trade 8

KCP 33 / Trade 15

RJ 30 / Ish 18

Starters have a good offensive & defensive mix but SJ would need to make shots

Bench essentially stays the same except Kingy gets some development minutes and helps spread the floor

Not sure on where I'd rank them within their positions league wide, too lazy to look it up. But overall this is how I would order them
