That's like comparing which cancer is more favorable to be diagnosed with. Both are pretty much washed up.

Ibaka

15 pts, 7 reb, 1.6 blk

Johnson

6 pts, 4.6reb

Yes, they look exactly the same.

I'm sure the last thing they want to do in NO is trade Davis, but if for some reason they did, and Boston lotto'd their way into the 1st pick, it occurred to me this is how they play it.

1. Sign and trade for a top FA (eg Hayward)
2. Trade Brown, Fultz, future picks and other stuff for Davis

Roll out with Thomas, Hayward, Horford, Davis, and whoever is left from Bradley, Smart, Olynyk and Crowder, potentially all of those guys plus Zizic.

I could deal with:
Thomas/Jackson
Bradley/Smart
Hayward/Crowder
Davis/Yabs or whoever
Horford/Zizic

As I said. Ibaka is better but the overall picture is still **** with either one.

No not really not if you are giving up amir, rozier and a couple of low end first round picks for him.

And before anyone says not rozier....he has been awful for most of the year and will be a non factor when we draft Fultz or Ball anyway.

Exactly how I envision it playing out in my head. Vets would sign on the cheap to chase a ring.

to get Davis here we would have to send the #1, BK18, 1 of AB/Smart, and 1 of Brown/Crowder, and Rozier...plus a couple more picks potentially.

so let's just say it's Jaylen Brown, Avery Bradley, #1 pick, BK18, Rights to Yabusele, Memphis pick and CLippers pick for Davis.

We sign Hayward.

We bring over Zicic & Nader

We round out roster with Vet FA's. Could Horford get Korver to come here? Would Gerald Green want to stick around? Jonas? There are plenty of guys like Patty Mills, Anthony Morrow, Jodie Meeks, Casspi, Livingston, Sully, Elysova, Scola, Humphries, PJ Tucker, Hibbert, Bogut, Nene, Pachulia, Mack, Foye, James Johnson, Mike Scott, the list goes on and on.

IT-Smart-Hayward-Davis-Horford
Mack-Meeks-Crowder-Jonas-Zicic there are a hundred different ways Ainge could build a team...but the basis of getting Davis would be Massive.

Makes sense. A win-later move, but the right one, and probably increases odds Hennigan keeps his job.

Hezonja and Ibaka still appeal to me. Zeller/Jonas match salary for Serge - he's only making about 12 million this year - but I assume they can get at least a 1st for him. Don't know what else we'd have to add to get Hezonja - Bradley/Jerebko for Ibaka/Hezonja?

Really impossible to speculate without more information. Ibaka helps our run and doesn't hurt our max cap space if we decide not to keep him. Makes sense. Still doesn't fix our rebounding problem.

For the record, Zeller and any one of Young/Mickey/Jackson/Green are sufficient to match Ibaka. Zeller and Mickey seem like a good pairing, as ORL could turn around and try to extract more value from their non-guaranteed deals.

It's happening guys! (AD to Boston, that is.) KG was my favorite player back then and always wished Boston would somehow land him. Now my new fav player is AD, so here's to my new wish coming true! Hey, I've been 1/1 so far. /greenfont (although truthfully, I'm serious) :P

So we're renting Ibaka, and maybe keeping him? Zeller/Mickey/1st?

Just get Hezonja in the damn bargain, he's going to be good.

Anthony Davis is not gonna come to Boston no matter what you offer to the Pelicans (That franchise is awful, and they will not give up their only star player in AD), and Hayward won't be singing here because of the way the Jazz are playing right now.

Our only chance at winning a Championship is doing small trades that will fill out our roster (The low risk type of deals, that got us Crowder and IT) and building thru the draft.

I'd rather have a few minor trades for players like Bogut and build this team the right way, than cash in all of our assets for an injury prone star. And i think when the time comes one of IT/Bradley gets moved for a big. More likely Bradley.

2017-2018 Roster

IT/Rozier/Jackson
Fultz/Smart/???
Brown/Crowder/FA SF
Horford/Yabu/FA PF
Noel/Zizic/FA C

In the off-season, if Miami were willing to give the Celtics Hassan Whiteside purely for cap space and draft picks, which draft picks would you send to the Heat?
Disclaimer: Trades I post shouldn't make you stressed or angry if you disagree. If you say it's unproductive because it won't happen and we're only allowed to post deals that actually happen, it takes away 99% of trades here and the fun out of the board.

That's tough. He's a headcase but I like the fit. Maybe MEM 2019, BKN 2018 if they give us their 2019 pick back along with Hassan

That is the catch. I think Whiteside has more value at the deadline than he does when teams have cap space.

I have reservations about Whiteside but he clearly fills a huge need for Boston. I wouldn't be against a giving up two non BRK firsts for him at the deadline. Two from BOS '18, '19 and future firsts from MEM and LAC that can become available in '19 as well as MINN '17 2nd and whole bunch of other 2nd rounders you can have some of as well.

You kidding me I'll send the BRK 18 and cap filler to Miami for Whiteside with a smile on my face if I'm Danny Ainge.

Get him or Nurkic if you want to develop a young big. Hell Okafor if he's cheap enough can't be worse than Zeller/Amir

I'd take Noel, too. I just hate this team, I love all the players on it, but it's bad for morale to know you're just playing out the season without making moves to get better, because you want max cap space.

Return to Boston Celtics
