I am a Celtics fan who happened to like Elfrid Payton as a player.

Elfrid is a pretty good defender. He has more blocks , he has just as many steals. He may not be a better defender but he was defender of the year in college in his conference. He also is a good defender statistically.

What seperates him is that he can actually play offense really well. Smart cannot yet.

What seperates them is that Elfrid had a skillset that was very good, the average fans did not see that.

OK.

Aren't you Wizards fan?

No, Celtics fan.

When did the Wizards win a Championship? 1978?

Who's on their team, anyway?

Not a bad game for us so far. It's more our style than theirs.
We were horribly tight at first and got only a little better as things went on.
But TOR D at the rim is non-existent.

10?

We should be up 14 to 16 points if he made his open shots.

Nice try bud, IT>Wall, Paul Pierce carried you that series, etc

Pretty weird that a Wizards fan is randomly obsessed with Elfrid Payton

Lol when Smart started what were the Celtics? Pretty much a horrible team.

Orlando is horrible but not because of Elfird.

Out of 20 people you and a couple celtic fans would be the only ones to take him over Payton. You are delusional

Let me get this Straight Jack.

You like Elfrid Payton, who plays for the Orlando Magic; and you claim to be a "Celtics" fan; even though your ID starts with Wiz, for "Wizards" ?

And you say, that we're delusional?

You might wanna get that checked out.

If that was any other Celtic screaming and pointing at Celtic's coaches he would be getting absolutely shredded by the fans and media. Even IT.
Smart didn't cover anybody either last night. I actually don't think it should be a big deal from any player. It's a long season.
But it's clear there's a double standards with Smart, who got torched like everyone else .

Smart makes great timely clutch plays but is that enough to offset his lack of offense and a propensity to lose his cool? I think it's time to move on from smart. At least Rozier can score a little

So far this season, there is little evidence to support he will be an adequate perimeter shooter. One thing that does play against him is that he is treated by referees like a big. He's obviously not a blow by guy, but, he rarely gets calls when he gets bumped off course when he does take it inside. This is a minor mitigating factor. Much of his FG% struggles remains his poor shot selection. He's added a decent floater to his arsenal. His percentages are abysmal, there is no getting away from that fact. Payton has taken a little jump this season so far, upping his PPS to about 1.11, while Marcus remains at 1.06. We'll see if the situation last night is a sign of the team and Smart being at a crossroads in terms of what is happening out there.

He's overrated on defense too. He makes some fantastic plays, but as far as staying in front of his man, he's overrated and not what he was last year.

this shouldn't be about Payton versus Smart, this should be about whether the Celts should move on from Smart. They have so many guards on the roster and potentially may draft another one in June. Danny has some hard choices to make but it seems obvious to even a casual observer of this team that we need rebounding and another scorer. I like Richard Holmes in Philly. Maybe Smart to Philly for Holmes and that french guy they drafted. Give them Zeller or young as well. Or Smart to Golden State for a first and a player. I also think Amir johnson is a shell of himself and needs to be moved as well. Honestly I'm ready for rebuild number 2. This roster does nothing for me. If you could get a decent package for thomas I'd do that as well.
