Re: problem finally identified
posters lose all credibility when they start preaching boban over baynes. Guy is still lost out there, negatively impacts our rotations and defensively leaves the guard on a island on the perimeter. Don't let offensive highlights blind you to very real issues on boban

Last game I for sure would've liked a 7ft 4 guy standing in the lane while Ty lawson get's into the lane. Boban intimidates people with his size and alters shots just because of that. Baynes sucked ass, you could see it the first 1-2 min he was out there. Him and Ish were playing bad, I was like wow they're going to lose this lead, they did

then Sac would have just run a 1-5 pnr all game and abused Boban all day. if boban sinks in the lane then lawson just pulls up and offensively our rotations and spacing would have looked much worst. I get that baynes style of play is not sexy, but he's very good defensively and is probably a net positive or neutral on the offensive end.
The problem last night was guards couldn't keep their man in front of him leaving the help side exposed and no body wanted to rebound the ball off the bench to help either dre or boban out.

You could be right about them doing the PnR, but man Baynes has been terrible for most of this year. I loved him last year, a lot of people hated on him, but I really liked him. This year tho, man it's been bad. I'm not sure it would hurt to much to see Boban in the games Baynes is doing bad.Blkbrd671 wrote:joedumars1 wrote:Blkbrd671 wrote:posters lose all credibility when they start preaching boban over baynes. if you look at stats, Baynes has probably been our best defensive big and our rotations, spacing and communication is a lot better when baynes is on the floor. Our entire team has looked worst than last year so i wouldn't put it all on baynes. Also i don't disagree that "Trying out boban" every now and then wouldn't hurt, but when SVG has tried that (when other bigs are in foul trouble) boban has been lost on both sides of the ball and leading to wasted possessions or easy buckets. i also don't think the reality of rotations allows you to "try players out" on a game to game basis or you would see coaches expanding their rotations more often.
