Playoffs! Who's in? Eastern Conference Version

Post#1 » by ElectricMayhem » Thu Jan 26, 2017 8:09 am

Similar to past years, the playoff race in the Eastern Conference includes a blob of mediocre teams. I haven't followed the NBA enough to know each team's story and how they became a part of the blob, but imagine this blob as something attacking a castle. As soon as it gets part way in, the iron castle gate will shut down on it leaving part of it inside the castle and most of it to slither back into the moat. Which part is castle-bound?

Remaining Opponents Winning Percentage (ROWP):
1. Detroit Pistons (.476)
2. Washington Wizards (.484)
3. Charlotte Hornets (.490)
4. Milwaukee Bucks (.492)
5. Philadelphia 76ers (.500)
6. Orlando Magic (.502)
7. New York Knicks (.504)
8. Chicago Bulls (.506)
9. Indiana Pacers (.523)
.....................................................

I would say the Wizards are in - they are knocking on the door of the tier above and have a favorable schedule remaining. Charlotte is in. There is usual steady in-season improvement for Clifford-coached teams. Detroit is in. Easiest remaining schedule and they should be able to develop a rhythm now that everyone is healthy. Chicago is in. Despite the Rondo drama, Wade and Butler should provide the veteran leadership to get them in. Philly has been rolling as of late and there is still plenty of season left, but I think think the hole they dug themselves at the beginning of the season is too deep.

I hope the Bulls don't make it. I don't much care for watching a first round exit, nor our bipolar play, and would rather watch the the whole ship sink cue MichaelJacksonPopcorn.gif

My picks are Wizards, Hornets, Bucks, Pacers.

It's telling that the only team I want to click on from that list is Washington. But, they can't all miss the playoffs. Somebody's got to make it.

I'll play it safe with the top 2 and go WAS/IND.

After that, I'll go MIL. Middleton'll improve them by a few games for sure.

Last, I'll take a chance on Philly. Have a sneaking suspicion they're on the verge of becoming buyers. Will make a non-major but underrated/sneaky-useful acquisition, and keep things rolling.
