Whatever. I just got the number from BR. I'll take either one going forward.

Me too.

Wasn't criticizing your number; was criticizing my own incorrect underestimation of Markieff's play this month. :)

Keep it up, Kieff!

Hey -- am I wrong about this? I've noticed that game threads this year tend to go on way past the day after the game and stretch into lots of pages of posts. Wondering why that is....

I think the Wizards figured out Isaiah Thomas. Throw different looks at him and make him play defense in the 4th quarter. Other teams need to watch our game and learn to stop him. He's scoring 35+ on everybody else. I'm tired of this guy being so good. A guy with as many flaws defensively as him should not be able to stay on the court during crunch-time. Brad Stevens is a genius but it's time for teams to counter him.

My perception from past experience:

This happens when the team starts doing better. As the team does better there's more overall activity on the Wizboard. More people are watching the games, and there's more posting in the game threads.

Unlike some other boards, the game threads here are not locked at the end of the game. Plus, there's a general culture on the Wizboard (enforced lightly by the mods) that discourages new threads. So the game threads become vehicles to continue discussions that might become new threads on other boards. In the playoffs, the game threads run to lots of pages and are the primary place for discussions between games.

Also, there used to be POTG threads, which were places for post-game/between games discussion and which have fallen off. If the team continues to do well and members get interested in starting those you might see them come back.

Back in the day - about 15 years ago - Earl Boykins (5''6 at most) was Gilbert Arenas' backup at GS. But they would play Boykins the entire 4th quarter of most games, because it at least appeared that he could take over games in the 4th. He was much more scorer than playmaker - just like IT. Teams eventually did figure out how to play him, but it was amazing - when he was at his best - how he could maneuvre into advantageous situations.

I haven't watched many Boston games but I think they tried to hide IT on defense, probably letting him guard a non-scorer. They can't do that against us. We went at him on the defensive end and that probably threw him off a bit on offense.

I like what the Zards and Brooks did defensively on IT late in the game. At various times he was guarded by Wall, Oubre and Beal. Giving Thomas a different challenge and look each time.

Yes. Smaller is better. A 114 DRtg is really, really bad.

It is, but PG routinely have higher DRtg than bigs/wings. Here is a list of Guards over the last two years that have a DRtg higher than 110:
IT
Lowry
Irving
Lillard,
Bledsoe
DeRozan
Beal
Redick
Dragic
Barton
Eric Gordon
We Matthews
Afflalo
Etc.

I know IT, Lillard, Irving, etc. are known as bad defenders... But Redick, Barton, Matthews, Afflalo are regarded as good or at least average...
