The thing is you have to think about him staying healthy.. he's relatively healthy right now... he's scoring the ball well.. he's willing to leave. You just get rid of him before he gets injured.

Keep in mind, the difference between keeping/trading Melo is a top 5 pick and a bottom of the lotto pick. That alone is another reason to move Melo.
