Nerlens Noel
I would rather have Noel as C of this team than Dre, seriously. First of all, he's so much agile and can switch on guards in pick n roll defense, and he's so much better blocking and putting himself in successfully defensive positions.
Guys, look at this video:
Look at the play at 00:40... it's not because he's blocking Harden, it's because he stays with Howard until the last second when another player put himself between Howard and the possible pass or board. You're not going to see Dre make that play, it's just because he doesn't have the IQ needed even if he had a good attitude and tries to be that player.
In other plays in that video, you see when he knows he's not strong enough to stay in the paint with his par, he always try to put himself over the opponent C. That added to his amazing speed for a C makes the other team to have problem to put the ball into the post.
Also, Noel is a very underrated passer, and he doesn't demand the ball on offense for selfish plays, but he's an elite lob finisher too.
Wow, just wow.

He's so little though. I question how well his body will hold up over the long haul.
I like his game, though.

I just don't want him. It would take a lot of money to retain him and I don't think he's proven he can stay healthy or productive enough to justify it.

I'm all for a defensive C and Noel is one if the price is right I'd take the chance.

Re: Nerlens Noel
Nerlens would be a sideways move at best. I want Dre and Reggie out of here badly but we can't keep going sideways and rebuilding on the fly.
Either make a move that propels us forward or gives us assets while sit and wait for the draft.

Re: Nerlens Noel
I've never been nearly as impressed by Noel when I watch him play a full game compared to his highlights. I get flashes of Amir Johnson for some reason. A lot of guys look like beasts on reel and underwhelming when you're watching all of the other plays. i.e. I guarantee you there's a Drummond mixtape out there where he looks like an unstoppable monster. We know the reality because we watch it every day.
I also don't buy him as a Center unless we're a total run and gun team (which we don't have the roster for currently). He's a little too soft on the boards for that.
(Not to mention the health concerns)

Re: Nerlens Noel
I've seen full games of him in his rookie year and, despite the typical rookie mistakes, he was always a smart player on both ends. I don't see him as a sideway move, but a big improvement for our team.
I forget to talk about get Noel if we could get McCollum too. Of course it would be a run & gun team, something like Celtics ball, but also we should be a much better team on D with those moves. It's the way this league has turned, and since there isn't any elite defensive center available, we get one on the next tier along with a scoring PG, which is almost a need these days.

Flip Reggie for Noel and Dre for Bledsoe. Add value where appropriate to make it work. We probably wind up eating Chandler. I'm OK with that.

Re: Nerlens Noel
Nerlen's post defense is worrying though. Monroe went off for an easy 28 points off of nothing but layups and bunnies.
But what playoff caliber team has a great post man nowadays anyhow? They're a dying breed so maybe it won't be as bad.

The most important thing about those Noel stats is he has put on two wins. And yeah, sure I rather have a bad post defender who could help and recover and protect the rim than a slowly big man who only put his body between the opponent and him. I mean, Gobert is the best defensive C right now and he's not an elite post defender. And DeAndre was destroyed by Noel couple days ago, and he's a beast on the defensive end.
Sure Noel would suffer againt Monroe, Jefferson or some of those guys, but there isn't any flawless defender nowadays besides from Kawhi.

Noel might struggle against bulkier centers, but Drummond struggles against anybody...

Esp those centers that has a midrange and can stretch the floor.
It's almost a guaranteed loss if those guys get going.

Besides for the obvious injury history..... If you trade Dre, he would fetch a bigger haul then Noel. Even if you are personally down on Dre, he's got major trade value.

Even though is supposedly not available, I still like Dre for Cousins. That would make a huge difference in intensity for our team.

That's a great idea! Then we can trade RJ for Westbrook and we'll be set.
Yes, that would be nice too
