Do we still call this a progress?
Seems like a stalling.....

I was at this game, and even though I left deflated... you can't not say there's progress being made. It would've been nice to pull off the win (and to be honest we SHOULDVE), but LeVert getting the minutes and confidence was huge. Whitehead continues to be placed in the fire and needs games like this to learn from, and as you can see on twitter he knows it. This is the kind of loss where you grow from, because you can target specific faults and work on them.
This season, as is kept being said, is not about wins but about development. In that way, this was a win.
My heart still hurts though, because for 40 minutes I was having a party. I remember at the start of the 4th quarter turning to my girlfriend and saying, "well that was a nice 3rd quarter... but I've seen us fall apart from more than this."

At the end of the 3rd qtr my friend turns to me and says: You know they are going to lose, right?

GT: Miami Heat @ Barclays Center - 1/25/17 7:30 pm.
We're starting to seeing consistent defense and better ball movement with a lineup of Whitehead-LeVert-RHJ-Acy.
The fact we can distinguish who's passing the eye test and stats test is definitely an example of improvement. Coming into this season, we expected Bogs and Skil to be better. I think most fans at this point wouldn't care if they got traded tomorrow. Definitely progress.
Rebuilding is like a puzzle. You hope to the right pieces that can elevate the culture. Right now, we could say Lin/IW/LeVert/RHJ/Booker/Acy represents the culture we want to achieve.
I don't think we could've said that in October.

I think skil is a success story still. he came from the dleague and is worth a roster spot as a bench scorer. my fear is he would go backwards and look like the guy who had a stint in denver who couldnt shoot a lick.
7th man/bench microwave is a role he cant hang around with.

I love Acy, and he'd better be signed to a contract. He gives us exactly what we need in the rotation, tough defense, physical play, finishes around the basket, hits threes, GREAT attitude. Love the guy. If you tell me our PF rotation next season is Booker/Acy/McCullough I'm taking that.
I think my biggest takeaway from this disappointing loss, outside of Lopez just disappearing when the game got contested, was Kenny finally taking the leash off of LeVert. He finished the game, and the end of the 3rd qtr he called an ISO play for LeVert. That play right there, where we cleared out, had the screener come up, LeVert feinting on the screen and driving hard to the rack for the buzzer beating score. We've got something legit with this kid man.

Spot on with your Levert take. I think Coach A is starting to trust the rookie a lot more as the season goes on. That is only going to be beneficial for his growth and development long term. It's transparent that this kid will be a glued piece to the Nets puzzle for success.
OKC Thunder fan, too.

Kenny is very tempered in his media comments but you can tell in the post game presser that he basically had to stop short of saying some of the stuff we're saying on here regarding him

He's earning that starting job, which is good for him development wise and mentally. Can't just gift it to him even though CLEARLY he is the most skilled/highest IQ wing player on the team.

Kenny already let the cat out of the bag when he was asked a question about how the guys were developing and when he came to LVert he said "Yeah, we're still learning about the players. Like that left hand, crosscourt pass by Caris. I didn't know he could do that."

Re: GT: Miami Heat @ Barclays Center - 1/25/17 7:30 pm.
What a tough loss. To a tanking team, to a chucker like Waitors, to a three by D-Leaguer White, to former Nets Ellington and Reed, at home. (Reed was +34, wow! Ellington +15, White +12)
Whiteside was -30 and was totally neutralized by Brook. That was impressive.
Unfortunately, it was when Spo pulled Whiteside that they made the comeback, with Brook & co totally unable to capitalize on having a smaller guy on him. Was he tired in the 2nd half?
It was learning experience for the rookies again, LVJ testing things out, impressive moves but later on failing and surely will learn from his mistakes. iHead was forcing things with his floaters etc, need to make sure it's efficient. Diwidi had some nice moments but he's not ready for prime time, gained some experience with end of game situations. Nice game by RHJ.
Bogs' stats was nice but he was terrible for stretches on both ends and wasn't on the floor in crunch time.
Terrible game by Foye, we really need Lin and Harris back.
No third quarter collapse but got a late game collapse......

Thanks for the honesty.MorbidHEAT wrote:My dislike for Lin started during Linsanity. It was absurd. It's probably irrational dislike at this point, but man he gets on my nerves. He's been tearing us up though.
