Hate when reporters speculate on a trade rather than actually report on a potential one....

Since December Tucker is playing amazing defense. One of the best defenders in the entire NBA IMO.
And he really cares about the Suns.

That article makes an interesting point. We could deal Tucker, potentially for a late first rounder, and STILL resign him this summer if we wanted. Of course, I don't think there is a way in the world we are paying Tucker $10+ mil.

Exum has big upside even after his injury. That would be a good trade for us.

I have noticed that as well.
... good defender in general, but he has been playing outstanding defense in recent weeks: great hands, great strength, great competitiveness and disruption. I was actually thinking during the Denver game that he is one of the best defenders that the Suns have had in a long time, especially man-to-man, even though Phoenix often asks him to guard much taller opponents.

Cool. Just what Cleveland, Houston, OKC, Memphis, Boston, etc need. Let's start talking future picks and young players.

Not happy about that. Trading with Ainge has been a really bad bussines so far for McDonough.
Brandan Wright (expiring) for two seconds. Not a big deal, but it was not a good trade by any means.
Isaiah Thomas on a good contract for #27 pick. Enough said.
I hope we win the next one...Tucker has decent value around the league even being an UFA next summer.

IT didn't have that much trade value at the time. Heck, no one would even give him the contract we did that prior summer, so he signed with a team that had two point guards. The pick did help us get Chriss, so the fact that we even signed IT turned into an asset used to get perhaps a piece of our long term core.

Yeah, this is why trades can only be rated after a few seasons.
A great GM is like a visionary...Ainge won that one.

Easy to say that now, but like someone mentioned before, the butterfly effect would probably hurt us due to a slightly better record that year. I'd probably rather have Booker and Chriss then IT, Bogdan, and say Oubre and Hernangomez (though with Bender we may have taken Valentine or something). I'm guessing we would have taken Ulis at 28.

Re: P.J. Tucker
Think you guys are just looking to kinda tank the rest of the way? Tucker would be a nice get for us, we have Minnie's 2nd round pick. Suns could take James Young and because they shouldn't be looking to win you could really see what he's got. Not a great offer, but not like he should be getting a great haul from what I know about him.

I'd be happy with that, and you'd be happy with Tucker to back up Crowder. Guy leaves his heart on the floor. He kind of deserves a taste of the playoffs. I liked Young in the draft, so why not? Especially if we trade Tucker to give us another young 3 in case we don't draft one (most hope we take a PG, but many want a defensive SF like Jackson or possibly Isaac). And that 2nd would likely be what, easily in the 30s somewhere, so a pretty good pick.
There is zero reason for us to keep Tucker. Some think his value mentoring our young guys or setting an example for the next two months (less actually) is worth getting nothing for him. He is a FA this season and if we wanted to re-sign him and if he wanted to stay, that could happen anyway. You guys might not need to keep him with Brown developing. Seems it could/would work out well.

Is it mandatory to acquire a Kentucky guard per deadline.
