It has been an interesting first week. Interesting in that he met with both unions and business leaders and both came out happy. Very surprised by that... we will see if the trend continues.

He's following his pattern of using charisma and personal magnetism, reading the room and tailoring his message accordingly, telling people what they want to hear, to make people happy when they meet him in person. That's how he puts all these deals together. The 180s, bankruptcies, stiffed vendors, etc. come later.

I'll go with that assumption until the adrenalin and dopamine dissipates.

Trump does seem to start off with positive relationships with a lot of people. However it seems they usually do not end up working out well.

I think unions are encouraged by his focus on American jobs and manufacturing and construction. One outcome I see as very possible si that American manufacturing is in fact increased - however it very well could be in areas that are very anti-union.

With the business leaders it could be the ones that he meets with actually do end up happy, but their benefits maybe at the expense of those who don't have the connections with Trump. Also I am sure they were chosen from industries that are likely to benefit from a Trump presidency.

Yeah, but if it's China and Mexico getting stiffed, while we get the benefits, it's okay with me.

Anyone who wants to rationalize this away on Holocaust Remembrance Day... we're f'd, and we're all responsible.

Read on Twitter

President Donald Trump referred to African countries, Haiti and El Salvador as "shithole" nations during a meeting Thursday and asked why the U.S. can't have more immigrants from Norway.

It’s just as likely that it will be the American worker who gets stiffed by Trump’s job agenda. When Trump met with leaders of the building trades unions, he reportedly did not assure them that the jobs he wants to create would be covered by the Davis-Bacon Act, which helps ensure that federally-funded construction jobs are at liveable, middle-class wages.

I think the American worker will get stiffed by a lack of infrastructure spending by states (they still make up the majority of the spending); by environmental permits (or blockage by the same) and by the Rs in congress as they try to reign in the deficit (against entitlements squeezing this type of spending. I think that trade unions would gladly table the extra 20% they receive from the DBA to get any infrastructure spending through.

I could be wrong though...

Ok Real talk. America's biggest threat is homegrown terror. How many young minds did Trump radicalize today? You reap what you sow. And in typical conservative fashion, you never get the point until it hits you personally.

Benefits like... a wall... and isolating yourself while leaving an opportunistic and motivated China significantly increase its influence. Oh and robot workers. Don't forget the robot workers. There will be lots of those.

Seriously though, there had better be benefits, and benefits for everyone, and that doesn't seem likely to me.

Yeah! Wouldn't wanna piss off ISIS, they might go and fire up the ol' terrorist recruitment program for all the pissed off muslims that entered America through the flawed refugee program! It's not like this logic is a terrorist threat in itself in any way!

Might as well allow MORE refugees into our country because ISIS didn't already hate the U.S. Before! It's not like obama passed some executive order in 2011 to take away the visa waiver program in these EXACT 7 countries, and trump is just simply acting on the conclusions of the previous administration! No way!

I'm being totally objective and not just trying to spin everything into my anti-trump narrative!

ITS NOT LIKE I JUST WAITED UNTIL OBAMA LEFT OFFICE AND TRUMP ENTERED TO START BLAMING THE US FOR ISIS.

let more refugees in at the small risk that they turn on us in the name of Islam if we piss them off? Do you think the families of those shot dead at pulse night club "get the point" it hit them in a pretty personal way no?
