So we're giving up the best player in the deal, and a draft pick while at the same time getting back super stinky hot trash? :banghead:

Sounds about right

Just tell how serious and ridiculous some fans here are

Let's trade KP for picks and tank for 10 more years

Actually i dont mind melo becoming the sixth man at this stage of his career. only problem with that tho is we dont have anyone better at his position. team overall is poorly constructed.

The only teams Melo should/could be the 6th man on are Cavs(if Love is not traded),Warriors,Spurs and maybe the Bucks
Melo is better than either of their starting PF or SF on the rest of teams

Melo deserves more respect from their own team

You think okafor has the same skill set as Willy and koq but I'm supposed to take you seriously on player analysis?

Yeah, Willy has a similar skillset as Okafor. Okafor is a more talented player, but I would not be shocked if Willy ends up having a better career than him because he's a better rebounder, better passer, and much better motor.

You're clearly trying to go against the grain.

Okafor will put up better numbers & be a featured part of the offense.

At most Willy/Quinn will be a 4th option on offense.

KP on melo leaving
“Of course. He’s been a great leader for me,” said Porzingis, who for one night at least broke out of his recent funk with an 18-point, 8-of-11 shooting effort in the Knicks’ 110-107 victory over the Hornets.

“He’s been a great example for me. I’ve been blessed to be able to work with him day-to-day, learn from him, talk to him, be friends with him. Obviously it would be really tough for us to lose him. That’s it.”

Yes Willy and koq are excellent passers for centers. Not like okafor. And neither are close to his post game. Not even a little bit in style or ability.

And neither are close to him in rebounding or defense. In that both are vastly superior.

But id take a chance on okafor
He's super talented
And he's been humbled

The crazy thing is I feel the guy who should really go is Phil and not Melo.. It's Phil would built terrible roster after terrible roster around Melo since he's been here..and now his prime years have been wasted. But oh well..

Yo I want Melo gone but its not like he turns into a pumpkin if he isnt moved by the end of the season. Jamal Crawford is a horrid deal that would require at least a first round pick to move(without Melo). Crawford's contract is one of the worst in the NBA. Move Melo when there are actual assets or when things open up.

The numbers work. Melos incoming salary is 30 million after kicker. They would be sending out 29.8 million. The nets have 17.7 million in cap space to take Crawford outright.

I compared Okafor to Willy, not O'Quinn. You can check my original post. My point really was that Okafor is a true center, and we already have a lot of centers on the roster. I also feel that KP will eventually play the 5 when he gets strong enough because that's where his true value is as a player. He can protect the rim at a high level, shoot 3s and be a matchup nightmare on offense. Right now he's not strong enough, so he plays at the 4, but at the 4, he's a player that's easier to replace in terms of what he can offer. If you get Okafor, I would assume it would be as part of the future alongside KP and I don't see him as a good fit down the line. It's really similar to how Embiid and Okafor didn't work and the Sixers scrapped it. KP's defensive gifts would never be fully utilized here. Okafor is someone that if you use as starter and primary offensive option...you have to surround him with a lot of great perimeter defenders to make it work. In the end, I think of him as a great 6th man scorer, and I feel like that's superfluous if we have Willy who's also shown a lot of potential as that sort of player down the line too.

It sucks to lose games, but I don't mind trading the vets except for Noah and developing the youth we have...and losing a lot of games in the process. Even if it's for a 30% at Fultz or Ball, or 50% for a Dennis Smith, or 75% for a Josh Jackson. We need a primary ballhandler and the draft is top loaded with them.

Don't be ridiculous...

Crawford's contract has only $3mil guarantees in the 2018-2019 season. He's virtually an expiring after next season and can his $3mil can even be stretched over 3yrs with a cap hit of only $1mil over those 3yrs (if we need we the extra $2mil in cap space).

You're right that you aren't getting anything of value for Crawford...but he could be dealt to a team making a playoff push, looking to she an even longer contract. A team like Milwaukee could use someone who can score in bunches off the bench and has guys like Monroe, Henson and PlumLee (who I believe is the actual worst contract in the league).

I would take Rivers, Stanley Johnson, and an unprotected 1st for 'Melo even if it's selling low. Damn.

I hope your right. Common sense says you're right.

But how hard is to add 'and a future first' to a tweet? Literally no one has said that yet.

All we here about is Austin **** Rivers as if he is the centerpiece of the deal.

Phil is scaring me

He hasn't learned a thing from Melo on the court. Melo has a full arsenal of isolation moves and Porzingis doesn't do any of them.
